This was just posted at another forum I read. Just spreading the word
I'm writing this to inform everyone that a new Email virus out. This one is called "W32/MyDoom" or "Novarg". This virus is rather malicious. When loaded, some versions of the worm launch Notepad and show random
characters. At the same time it replicates itself and installs a "keystroke" program that allows a hacker to break in and record everything being typed, including passwords and credit card numbers!!!!
This Virus is an Email attachment sent from a infected computer, please use caution when checking email.
MyDoom comes with all different file extensions including .exe .bat .com .pif, .zip and .csr. It also uses an attachment icon similar to one used for Windows text messages. All of this, security experts warn, was
succeeding in tricking people into thinking the e-mail was legitimate.
So, Please double check your email before opening any attachments, some example subjects might be, "Hi my sweet Nancy(or your name)." or "Important information for you. Read it immediately!" and these emails always carries an attachment.
So, Please DONOT! open any attachments that you are not expecting, even it is from someone you know!
Norton has already pushed a new patch to combat this new virus. Our network should be fully updated by 9am, 1/27/03. For people who arrive before this time, please use caution when checking email, and you can manually update your virus definition by double clicking the golden shield on the bottom right corner of your desktop and click on Liveupdate.
This virus does not affect MAC users.
