How about some positive energy this week. This is the 13th installment but there'll be no negative force in these songs. Again, I'm am introducing (3)* bonus tracks to complement the Kate Bush tracks. The theme is tranquility and commitment (or at least one-on-one connection ) Nice flow from last week I think. Here they are: 1) 'L'Amour Looks Something Like You'- "The Kick Inside" * 'Time After Time' from Cyndi Laupers "Greatest Hits" 2) 'Feel It' - "The Kick Inside" 3) 'Oh, to be In Love"-"The Kick Inside" 4) 'In the Warm Room' - "Lionheart" * 'May This Be Love'- Meshell Ndegeocello- "Bitter" 5) 'Night Scented Stock'- "Never for Ever" * 'By Your Side'- Sade from her "Lover's Rock" CD You'll get a reward if you download the bonus tracks and play these in order. 'Night Scented Stock' makes a beautiful prelude to 'By Your Side' But, even if you can't listen to the add-ons- at least look up the lyrics and read them as poetry (if you wish.) Either way please comment! If you would like, include a suggested song or poem to continue the discussions.

Wonderful selections altruest. I think what we have here is all the positive aspects of being in love. There's the emotional high we get when we're with that special someone. Then there is the strength love gives us. So while love can make us feel not in control of ourselves at times it can also be the one thing that keeps us going when things look bleak.

There's the emotional high we get when we're with that special someone. . I wish I could bottle that feeling. Not only would I be wealthy, I'd actually enjoy it. I liked this list myself. Because of the recent interest in poetry on this board (August/Zan etc.) I thought that the bonus selections were equally strong as poems. I know that everyone may not be able to access all of the tracks. Thank you for the endorsement August.

I`ve got to say Al, after listening to this play list in order, it reminded me of when I first fell in love with Kate. I know you are looking for clever connections and meaningful words. All I can offer is the rhyme I wrote when I pulled up on the hard shoulder of the motorway (Freeway) whilst listening to "Watching you without me" HOL, with tears streaming down my face, back in 1989. Each life we live, we find again, our love is always real; each time we give, we climb the glen, and meet on every hill. We find our heart, is just a part, of what is meant for all; right at the start, feel cupid`s dart, and answer love`s first call. I know this is not what you wanted, but it is how it made me feel.

I know you are looking for clever connections and meaningful words..... I pulled up on the hard shoulder of the motorway (Freeway) whilst listening to "Watching you without me" HOL, with tears streaming down my face, back in 1989. I know this is not what you wanted, but it is how it made me feel. This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for MT. You just described the 'connection and meaning' from your perspective. I'm sorry if I'm coming off as demanding or pompous. 'Clever' is not what I'm looking. In trying to be straightfoward and honest, I'm apparently coming across as sarcastic or mean. For that I apologize. I do not mean to sound as such.

One thing a message board lacks is the ability to look into someone`s eyes, for there is truth within that cannot be percieved through the written word however well articulated. You do not come across in any negative way Al, I just don`t wan`t to overstep the mark, at any time!

Please overlook the last post and comment on the playlist. Would someone also confirm that they listen to the bonus tracks. I like the idea of up 2 or 3 in each week'a rotation. Should I do this or not?

If any of you question the strength of the Cindi Lauper selection; note that 'Time After Time' was covered by the legendary Miles Davis on his "Live Around the World" CD. He also covered the MJ single "Human Nature" as well as a tribute to the greatest bass player that ever lived (Jaco) "Mr.Pastorius. Check it out. Don't be a music snob. I have mentioned this before; but there are certain artists that contrast with Kate so well that they heighten my listening experiences when they are played in conjuction with Ms Bush. I've given earlier examples. (Loreena McKennitt, Sade, Bjork, Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman etc.) do any of you have a favorite complement to Kate?

I've been a long time Suzanne Vega fan. I like almost everything she's done, except 'Luka'. I only say that 'cos it got so much airplay. Plus there were the parody verses of it (I'm sure you've heard them) But I especially like "Penitent" I love Stevie Nicks' voice and energy. I just burned out on her. If she and Linda Ronstadt had more progressive material to work with I would love them even more than I do already. Linda Ronstadt can break me up with the beauty of her voice. Others that I admire for talent and emotion more than content: Billie Holiday (high quality work, portions not my favorite style) Joni Mitchell ditto Patsy Cline ditto Tracy Chapman ditto (I do like some of it) Joan Armatrading ditto K D Lang (although very much of her material is great) Tammy Wynette (Mostly tacky but 'wounded animal' emotion) Portishead (I love the female lead, but awfully morbid at times) I really love music of all types, and have trouble not sharing. I vicariously enjoy the thought of others relating to the music I love. Kate will always be my favorite though. p.s. You guys should REALLY check out Carolyn Leonhart. She has her own material, but I've grown to love her voice as a BV for Steely Dan. (I just bought their new CD, "Everything Must Go", the day of it's release) Her vocals on 'Pixeleen' are pristine! Let me know!

Ok well firstly I've never heard of any of the 'other' tracks apart from Cyndi Laupers 'Time After Time' (which I love) so I can't comment on them. 'L'Amour Looks Something Like You' is possible my favourite Kate song. I absolutely LOVE it. Are we saying that there is some connection between that and 'Time After Time'? Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I've just replied to the opening post. I think 'Feel It' and 'Oh to be In Love' are kind've on the same level as each other as far as the mood and feel of the track goes. I'm not too familiar with 'The Warm Room' as far as the lyrics and theme or idea behind the song goes but it's a nice calm song. I think 'Night Scented Stock' is an amazing track... I really love it!!! I've been bugging my father recently into buying some night scented stock actually for our back garden because apparently they smell amazing at night

The good things about being in love- the commitment, the closeness, security, and all the pleasant sensations. These selections affirm our bond with another on more than a surface level. Like August said earlier- "all the positive aspects of being in love." is what is captured in these songs.
