We're going to try something new this week. Although there will always be 5 Kate Bush song's on the weekly playlists; this week, I'd like to introduce 5 complementary tracks by another artist (similar to the bonus track last week) "Parallel Dreams" is this week's theme. That is an album title of this week's guest artist Loreena McKennitt. We will transition from the past to the future with these selections: 'Mystic's Dream' from "The Mask and the Mirror" 'Dark Night of the Soul' from "The Mask and the Mirror" 'All Soul's Night' from "The Visit" 'Prospero's Speech' from "The Mask and the Mirror" 'The Old Ways' from "The Visit" You may her samples of these on the website: quinlanroad.com. (enter then go to sound files) afterwards please continue the playlist with these Kate Bush songs: "Love and the Anger" from "The Sensual World" "And Dream of Sheep" from "The Hounds of Love" "The Dreaming" from the album of the same name. "The Red Shoes" ditto "Experiment IV" from "The Whole Story" Some excerpts: "Just remember to reach out and touch the past and the future" kb. "Yet it was there I met the crossroads of time" lm "But that dream (can be) is your enemy" also kb. For a deeper understanding of these selections please read the lyrics on Loreena's site and Kate's on Lori's website. Please listen and comment though. ......MT indulge yourself. This one's got your name all over it. (But please somewhat restrain yourself )

I listened. Great music to play on a lazy saturday afternoon. I wish I could go and sit on a hilltop with the wind blowing and looking out at nothing but fields and trees and rivers when I listen to this music. Great selections altruest.

Aww I'm terrible in this board (Moments of Pleasure), hehe. It's becoming very popular though AT, well done & keep it up!! I can't see any link at all with the Kate songs, other than 'And Dream of Sheep' and 'The Dreaming' for obvious reasons. This might be because I don't really know what the other 3 are about... yet ...this calls for a visit to 'Song Meanings' I think, hehe. Will listen to the other playlist this evening though

Yeah, let's put the other 3 up for discussion. I'm going to hold back on my opinion for now. I hope to have some other responses. I will put this out there though. * How does time influence or change our thoughts. * Does time have any meaning in our dreams? * Is the fate of our soul (s) dependant on our thoughts, or only our actions? Should we fear our thoughts? (this of course depends on if you have a soul or believe that you do) Tell me these things after you've listened to the lyrics from this playlist. Your opinion is the only one that matters to you.

Er-essay questions? All right I'm game. #1 Time is the one constant in our life you cannot stop it, speed it up, or turn it back all you can do is go with it accept that time will eventually bring healing or peace or a solution. Time can have a very positive influence on our thoughts if we stop trying to fight against it. The time is right when it's right. #2 I don't think time has any meaning in dreams. I can take a very quick nap and dream a seemingly endless sequence of events that seem to last forever than suddenly wake up and realize I was only asleep for a few minutes. #3 This one is a little bit tougher but I'll try. I don't believe our thoughts alone have any bearing on the state of our souls. Our actions in spite of our thoughts may be more of a factor. For instance you may be thinking I really want to take the easy way out I'll tell Grandma that I have to do a special project for school so I won't be able to come over and read the paper to her. In the end you go over and read the paper to her anyway. When a hero saves somebody he's not standing there thinking "if I do this I'll be hailed as a very brave person." He just does it. Thoughts can be useful but I think having a conscience and a healthy instinct about certain situations is even more important.

Thanks August. I wasn't sure if anyone would take the challenge. I agree 100% with you on the first two questions. The third is difficult for me as well. Yes I think actions are more important. But' I'm not sure that our thoughts don't reveal the content of our hearts. I think actions alone can not expunge deep seated hatreds and contempt. I do feel like we should however be able to unburden ourselves from dibilatating and needless guilt. To me music and poetry can be a great purifier of our souls. It affirms the best of humanity and lifts our spirits. This was the common thread I found in this week's playlist. Oh, and one more thing, If you're reading the paper to your Grandma, I wouldn't worry too much about the fate of your soul.

Thanks altruest. Actually I was using that as an example. My grandmother's been dead for several years now unfortunately. However I am taking care of my aunt's place while she's in the hospital.

I'm sorry August. But the positive energy of your thought process remains. I had wanted to expand on the notion of how thoughts may determine the content of our soul. We've heard (often on this board), that 'what the mind can imagine it can accomplish'. Or in general the power of such practices as prayer and wishful thinking. Should we assume that this power only works for good; I think not. Moreover, if you believe in Karma, is the source of it a higher power, or does it manifest itself from human psychic energy? Don't be afraid to answer 'cos you'd probably be wrong regardless. And one last question: If there is (and I think that there must be) some kind of higher power; will such an entity hold us accountable for knowing the answers? I hope to persue this line of thought with more of you. Maybe the premise could be 'art vs fundamentalism'. Please comment if you wish, especially regarding the playlist.

I don't really know what the other 3 are about... yet ...this calls for a visit to 'Song Meanings' I think, hehe. Check the "Song's Meanings" board. I'm only posting two of the three 'cos we've discussed 'Experiment IV' already on the 'MOP" board.
