This week, all the songs have sexual imagery to help deliver the message. There may be some repeats from previous playlists, but each week's fare will be unique.
1) 'In The Warm Room' from "Lionheart" 2) 'The Sensual World' from "The Sensual World" 3) 'Feel It" from "Hammersmith" concert (better version) 4) 'Symphony in Blue' from "Lionheart" 5) 'Wow' from "Lionheart" (trick ?, find the pertinent line)
If you don't have all the songs on the list, try downloading them. Listen, enjoy, and please comment.

I was hoping to get some response on the 'politics of sex' (gender). Kate has a keen sense of how the differences in the sexes can be and have been used to manipuilate circumstances. She will sometimes embody the characters in her stories without regard to gender. She seems to express herself through the conduit of these characters to reveal a part of herself that she can not speak about in any other way. She challenges our preconceived notions about role; yet she will exploit these same mores to suit her need....? ?.. Not only convenient but brilliant! ? ?

Sorry Al, you are entirely correct. I used your playlist to indulge in my fantasy. How selfish! It has intrigued me though how Kate can switch gender (in her mind) in order to explore an idea, sometimes to the detriment of her mainstream appeal. Yet an artist of her pedigree are shown to be pioneers, as with the likes of David Bowie, Peter Gabriel and from an earlier period, The Beatles and earlier still, Buddy Holly. If your sole goal is to sell records, then quite often artistry is watered down. Perhaps the key is to balance the serving of commercial (present appeal) and more adventurous material as Kate provided on The Hounds of Love. As we know side one being the commercial part, side two the deeper description of her art. (Side one and two when it was on vinyl. The Hounds of Love/ The Ninth Wave on CD. Kate is not afraid to take the steps of exploration. This for me is her genius. As you pointed out Al, Kate undertands that we are human first and man and woman second.
