MOMENTS OF PLEASURE
Every Saturday this board will be dedicated to a short suggested playlist of Kate Bush material. The songs will be chosen to fit a theme and to have a flow of different energies.
A winner will be posted each week for the most consecutive days of comments on the songs. A yet to be determined prize or recognition will be bestowed on the overall monthly leader.
WEEK 1:
1) 'The Fog' from "The Sensual World" 2) 'Running up that Hill' from " Hounds of Love" 3) 'Mother Stands for Comfort' from " Hounds of Love" 4) 'Strange Phenomena' from "the Kick Inside" 5) 'Moments of Pleasure' from "The Red Shoes"
If you listen for nuances in voice, strings and keyboards; you might discover a new favorite. (Mine changes frequently.)
Remember to comment on from who's perspective the the story is being told.

O.K...Listen to all five songs on the playlist. If nothing else, appreciate them for what they are. But, if you would like to find a common thread in all of them please comment. You may also comment on each song individually. Anyway let me know your feedback
The idea is to stimulate appreciation and discussion.

Ok, here goes:
1) The Fog Kate`s appreciation of the fear of letting go and trusting love/life."Yet this love is deep and dark like the water was, the day I learnt to swim."
2) Running up that Hill Oh to have a love so special, so understanding Like making a "Deal with God to get him to swap our places."
3) Mother stands for comfort Unconditional love is as a mother`s love, there regardless of the circumstances. "Hide the murderer."
4) Strange Phenomena An appreciation of the female element of being psychic. "Soon it will be the phase of the moon when people tune in"
5) Moments of Pleasure Remembering feelings of love as a treasure in your life, precious and unique. "These moments are a gift from time"
Kate knows how to open up your heart and feel your fear, your longing, your commitment, your femininity, and most of all, the love you have in your life right now.

EXCELLENT!
Marktime I have decided not to abandon this board. I'm working on next week's already.
Someone else please elaborate on how the feminine perspective is manifest in the various relationships in these songs as well as in life.

This week's playlist is in the works. The theme will be songs with miliitary overtones or undercurrents. It will be posted this coming Saturday. If you have a suggested theme for next week's list, post it on this board.

With the Mid-East conflict ongoing, I thought it appropriate to arrange the playlist to progress from war to peace. Whatever your view is of conflict; our common goal is peace as the outcome.
Playlist:
01) 'Army Dreamers' from "Never for Ever" ("WS") 02) 'Breathing' ditto 03) 'Experiment IV' from "The Whole Story" 04) 'Pull out the Pin' from "The Dreaming" 05) 'Lionheart' from "Lionheart"
We've discussed a couple of these songs on other boards; but try to tie them together in a flow from hostility to peace.

Hey AlTruest! Just a suggestion, but you should maybe post each playlist in a new thread to make it easier to keep on the right group of tracks. Maybe with the date as the title or the theme I don't know

Question... this thread is 'Sticky'. What does that mean ;D

Noted on the new thread, Lori.
"Sticky like, controversial?
I have always wondered about Kate Bush's seeming fascination with military themes. The life and death elements, the human rights issues, as well as the theological connotations contained therein; give her so much to work with. Even military drum beats are used in songs such as 'RUTH"
Has anyone else noticed this?

Well it's a well known fact that Kate hates war if that helps

Oohh...you mean sticky like on the administrative functions toolbar icon? Go ahead and make fun of me. 'Cos I apparently don't have a clue as to what it's for.

Yes, that's what I meant, LoL I thought maybe you'd made it a sticky topic. Oh well, I don't know what it means either

Yeah, I know about Ms Bush's view on war; yet I think that by using it as a theme in many of her songs, she shows us how deeply she feels about the importance of human life; and of how politics, greed, power and religion can corupt and cloud the world's relationships.. I think she is a extremely sensitive, yet forceful person.
