Voting ends Saturday 15th June 2004. Wow! Why so long? Too much time to mull over my choices. Are you leaving us for over a month, Sto? By the way, I think I forgot to vote last week. All of those wouldn't have been my choices, but I guess I missed out.

LOL! Sorry Zan, my exams are in June and my mind's there all the time at the moment! And no you didn't vote, it means you have to vote this week or you can't vote next week or receive $200 (I'm presuming you guys have Monopoly over there or that joke's redundant ) Anyway, don't worry, you can vote or not vote when you want

'Better get my vote in under the wire:
"The Empty Bullring" "December Will be Magic Again"
I like both of these songs, especially "DWbMA" I can't bring myself to include a seasonal song as a finalist though. Besides, I do enjoy the remaining songs more.

Al': You were talking about wondering why she let "Burning Bridge" out the can in an earlier thread here. I found this on GaffaWeb: KATE: Umm, again ["Burning Bridge"] was a song that was totally created for a B-side, and I knew that it was going on the other side of "Cloudbusting". "Cloudbusting" is not necessarily an up-tempo song and I feel that flips of records should be something that counterbalances the energy of the other side. So, I wanted something that was relatively up-tempo, and just a fun song. I don't think the lyrics are by any means profound, but it was something that I felt was fun to do and was a very different energy from the A-side of the record. DOUG: It's sort of... I don't know if it's incredibly... I mean it's up-tempo, but it still has a sort of desperate sadness to it, don't you think? KATE: Actually, I think it's incredibly positive and quite trivial. gaffa.org/reaching/im85_da.html you might have read it already

Thanks Sto. I don't believe I have read that. I feel vindicated somewhat though, that Kate coins it as trivial. That is how I would characterize it as well. I just expect too much from her. ;D

I don't think the lyrics are by any means profound, but it was something that I felt was fun to do and was a very different energy from the A-side of the record. See, Kate understands the yin and yang of creating balance to provide peace and beauty. I should have known.

I'm going for the same songs as you two:
The Empty Bullring I think this would have slotted in nicely on "Never for Ever" instead of "All We Ever Look For". It's got a good sound and the piano sounds great, as does Kate's voice. Interesting subject matter too, and it shows off Kate's vocal range really well.
December Will Be Magic Again Kate could have done a very cheesy Christmas song, but it's just not something she'd have been happy with. Very strong tune and perfect for the festive season!

I am voting for [glow=red,2,300]The Empty Bullring & Be Kind to my Mistakes[/glow]
I've voted for both of them before so I am just being consistent.
I could never bring myself to vote off December Will Be Magic Again, even though everyone else is. Along with Fairytale of New York, it is the definitive seasonal song for me. I've commented on Under the Ivy previously and Experiment IV is also essential.
God knows what I'm going to do next week..

Unless more people vote I think it's obvious what'll be going this week.
