Unfortunatly, due to strict proboard regulations, I am unable to post the lyrics to this song. I shall post a link to the lyrics instead. The Link: Un Baiser D'enfant Lyrics.

Am I the only one who likes how Kate's voice sounds in this one better than the original?

No, my friend, you are not. I heard this version months before I ever heard "The Infant Kiss" and, although not easily shocked, was minutely appaled (in a Michael Jackson way--I have since seen "The Innocents" and understand the song better) to find such a pretty, gorgeous, emotional song be about something so weird.
I have a theory. She knew "The Infant Kiss" was one of her most challenging (lyrically) songs, and "Ne Ten Fui Pas" was one of her lamest (lyrically) songs so she recorded them in French because they sounded cool that way. She plans everything!

Really, I prefer it in English, I like the French, but it doesn't seem right. I keep writing the lyrics in my French class, I think my teacher must know them all by now.

"Un Baiser d'enfant"
Je dis bonne nuit-nuit. Je le borde dans le lit. Mais ca ne va pas.
Qu'est-ce que c'est? Un baiser. Ca me fait fremir.
[**--"L'amour": This last word ("love") is found only in the French version.]Un baiser (noun) means "A kiss". Baiser (verb) used to be the word for "to kiss" in old French, but now it really means "to f**k".
So, in KT's song, there is little doubt that it can only be translated by "infant kiss". But still, the translation is not correct as "the" can't be translated by "un" (article for "a" or "an"). So if "the" is the article for kiss, it should have been translated by "Le baiser de l'enfant".
Of course, words have links and connotations whether used in a formally "correct" way or not, and the double meaning of "baiser" is well known. en.wiktionary.org/wiki/baiser
Whether or not it was ever intentional - who knows?! ... Le Baiser (The Kiss), Carolus-Duran, 1868Kate Bush - The Infant Kiss (fan-made video) - en français www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWSevsMRmJI Here is the video I made for Kate Bush's song "The Infant Kiss" using the audio from the French language version of the song "Un Baiser d'Enfant"... Wow! I like it even more in French. Feels more complicated. Tristan and Isolde are deeply woven into modern love tragedy. The funeral song for Tristan, Mild und Leise, is the song of the love that challenges the power of death itself. Before Rock and Roll there were only Opera to work the emotions on the grand scale that only music can, and here Isolde has taken the drink that will bind her for ever to Tristan, and Romeo to Juliet, and Cathy to Heathcliff, and Quint to.... "Cathy" (JCB, 1986)home.att.net/~james51453/cathy18.htmDescription: KATE BUSH Cathy Extremely rare 1986 UK 7" x 10" high quality hessian bound hardback photobook by John Carder Bush - Kate's Brother - featuring a superb selection of previously unpublished black & white photographs of Kate as a child around eight years old. Each photo is superbly mounted with the prior pages die cut with annotations from John about the picture & Kate at the time. The whole is protected by an outer peach card slipcase - Incredible! Privately pressed by a Kent printer, this was originally going to be the first of a series of three books, depicting Kate first as a child, then a teenager, then as an adult. The project was abandoned when her brother realised just how much Kate treasured her privacy & did not want to cause her upset by publishing further photos. This was the first & only one of the series to see the light of day. The outer peach card slipcase, in all honesty, lets the packaging down. The book itself is of a standard that even Genesis would be proud of, then it is supplied in a thin, unremarkable peach cardboard slipcase ! Why ? For this reason I will tell you that the slipcase has some edge scuffing from shelf storage but I will also tell you that it matters not a jot. The book is what matters & THAT is perfect. A fascinating view through the looking glass at a young Cathy Bush growing up in & around Old Bexley.eil.com/products/kate-bush-cathy.htmlAll my barriers are going It's starting to show Let go.
