How about making everyone log on before they can view this site? Rather than be able to view the site 'invisibly' as a guest, if people could see how many other visitors there were there'd be so much more posting!! I do think lots of members visit without bothering to log on - I confess I certainly do.
Lots of other forums are like that.

Well I always log in, in order to pick up messages and so forth.
I dont have a problem though with casual visitors being able to read our posts - anything to keep us inclusive. There are 'members only' areas for more private contributions.
Anyone else got thoughts on this?

Hmmm... I agree with amy. If we had to log in to read the forums, I'm certain people would look around long enough to be noticed by someone else, and then those two would probably stick around, exchange greetings and what-not.
I, too, like the idea that a visitor can check us out before registering, but right now I think that is counter-productive and ironicly why we don't see as much action here as we used to.
(just a thought...)

I normally keep myself logged in "forever" but whenever I clear my cookies I have to again log back in. Is any of this going to change?

No you didn't. You caused a little bit of activity here.
I only stated my opinion, and am fine with whatever happens. If more people would chime in on this and other subjects, the mods will have an easier time running the board.
Keep it up!

Amy while I think the idea is good in a way I also have to say this thread has only been viewed 46 times so perhaps it's all a simple case of not many people visiting the board. The trouble with logging in is that new people will not be able to check the site out and get an idea of what it's about and how it compares to other Kate Bush boards so how can they really make a good decision if they have to register to view it? I definitely would like to see the board more active but I'm not sure if this is the way but by all means try it and maybe it will work. Can't hurt to try it.

This isn't to argue that the board is hopping with activity, but the actual viewed total will be higher than whatever the listed total says - I have a habit of looking at the "10 most recent posts" list, as I happen to be doing right now, rather than going to any actual thread. I think there are others who do the same...

Hello, I think what I was suggesting was that if you're not a member you can come in, have a look around, see what's going on etc but if you are a member then you are automatically logged in (I have no idea how all this works I just know it's possible) and therefore you can see (whether member or not) which members are viewing. (I'm getting embarrassed writing 'member' so many times) Anyway that's the kind of thing I was thinking of.

As I said, no changes planned. The site currently has no on-going structural development or maintenance work.
However, pleasing to see that some folks are keeping the faith!
