Whether it be Kate Bush or you or me...what are the topics worth writing about. What is art if not the stuff of life as existential experience. I'll give my opinion. I'd like to hear your's.
The downtrodden and the afflicted have small individual voices. Yet their courage is great. The retarded, the unsightly, the sickly have a lot of nerve to face the rest of us each day. A song or a poem incorporating this subject matter, in the vein of Bob Dylan's "Positively 4th Street' or Bruce Hornsby's "The Way it Is", would be an important story to tell. Who want's to tell it.
Do you have any ideas or input? Kate are you listening to your fans?
Everybody reading this should have something to say. After all, life doesn't exist just to entertain you!

Don't be afraid to be creative. What I'm looking for here are ideas worth our consideration. Inspiration can come from anywhere..why not from you.

ALTRUEST,
I find life to be both entertaining & educational.
I am unclear about the purpose of this thread.
Am I to infer that you are seeking after things that MS. KATE BUSH might conceivably write about in the near future?

MX, Welcome back dear sir! We.ve missed your wit and insight. This thread developed from MT's 'stimulating Kate' post (intially prompting a lascivious response ) I then pondered what inspiration Kate, or any artist for that matter, has to draw from. A student of life, always has their eyes and ears open; but to what? Anyone can shed light on causes worthy of our consideration. My post was and is to 'stimulate' others. I find that entertaining.

I think some of my favourite types of Kate songs are the ones which are written about taboos. Songs like "The Kick Inside", "The Infant Kiss" and "Breathing" verge on talking about the untalkable but in a very tasteful way. I think she stopped doing songs like these on the latest 2 albums which of course I don't mind because she uses other ideas and concepts which are equally brilliant.
But I think for the next album I'd love it if she had some more controvercial/taboo songs as these inspire me the most.

You say MORE controversial, SS? What could be more taboo than incest and nuclear holocaust??

You say MORE controversial, SS? What could be more taboo than incest and nuclear holocaust?? How about an incestuous couple planning a nuclear attack? That sentence actually came out wrong, I meant MORE controvercial songs numerically speaking, as in we have some already but let's have more - I'm just plain greedy you see And it is rather unfortunate that my username's initials, SS, make me sound like a Nazi...

Lol, That's my kind of humor. As for your initials, I thought the same thing. I even thought of using the 1st and last letters; you would then sound sado-masochist. Anyway, you picked it! I'll try Sto'..how's that? Taboo subjects, I agree, must be broached. e.g. if not for Masters and Johnson, Cyndi Lauper never records 'Shebop' Seriously, Ms.Bush has pushed the envelope with her lyrics. She is often misunderstood; for her convictions are very deep. It is with an enlightened ear you must interpret her words.

With the recent war on terrorism going on and different people's views on it, I would think there would be enough subject matter there to fill an entire CD.

I agree August. Lack of compassion and communication is a huge part of the world's problem's. God or whatever higher power you kneel to does not chose sides, the followers (religions, factions, ideologies) do. The only real battle is good and evil. Who do we trust to make the distinction?

I`m very sorry, I know I said I was refraining from posting until I`d finished my book, but I simply had to respond to these latest posts. When Kate gets to read from this board which I`m pretty sure she will, there is much for her to ponder and as August stated, there are songs galore within current world issues that she could easily transform into hard hitting (emotionally) pieces that can move us all. You are right though Al, Kate has a tendency to veer off into her own interpretation of affairs that can loose the mainstream. Perhaps I underestimate the present crop of young people who may be impressed by Kate`s musical perspective and the way she presents it. We will all see in the course of time. I think in future I will check in once a week on a Monday, things are getting quite interesting on this board!
