I was originally refering to the children's book. Somehow the cheesy pun was too hard to resist.

Are there any other influences that Kate Bush has had on you and the art, music or literature you like?

I know you tell me off for this Al,...... but the influence of Kate`s ninth album is like nothing heard before. The effect it has completely transforms the world of entertainment, let alone the world of music. Open your imagination and see this part of future history. Believe it `cause its really happening to ya! New Dawn. Yes, I like that title. Maybe that is it. Kate 8.

Here we go again! "New Dawn" sounds like an improved dishwashing liquid. "Kate 8" sounds gluttonous. But being reminded of the seven deadly sins; how about "Eighth Deadly Sin" (as the name of a concept album) 'Dogma' being the 'new evil'. Oh!...Or how about this: A re-incarnated Henry the Eight appears on the cover with a cowboy hat and shades, on the album "Hank." Hank is an immoral rock star misogynist who divorces or murders all but one of his six wives. He organizes his fans into a new cult to rationalize his actions. Rick Wakeman samples are used profusely. Now you're wondering if I'm clever or clairvoyant. As you can see, I can put myself 'out there'; but I assure you, Kate's work will be her 'own' vision. I can't believe I'm even responding to this! ;D

Altruest - Oh my goodness - I LOVE Loreena McKennitt! I've known her music for years - when I was a kid I was part of a series of dances revolved around her music - it was very cool. So very Celtic! TT :-)

I`m really sorry Al, you`ve obviously never played Dungeons and Dragons. Collecting artifacts on detours empowers you in the finale to succeed in your objective. Perhaps you lack patience, perhaps you see it as an irrelavance. This is a game you are playing with awareness or not. The more you object, the more colourful you`re character. Altruest, you are a tremendous inspiration for me! Thank You.

Oh my goodness - I LOVE Loreena McKennitt! So very Celtic! TT :-) She is often called the 'Eclectic Celtic'. She is so different and yet so similar to Kate Bush. Her work helps round out my spirtual journey.

Perhaps you lack patience...you are a tremendous inspiration for me! MT, you've read me so wrong. I have infinite patience in matters of import. No, I was never into D&D. But, I am an accomplished chess player. I also develop character driven storylines that often utilize psychology and stategy as underlying elements. As far as inspiration; that's flattering. Our thoughts and actions can have a rippling effect on those around us, kind of like stones on the water. Our rings of influence can spread vastly. I would like to hear some commentary on Gestalt theory and priniciples used to discuss the music and emotionial impact of Kate Bush. 'Zan you wanna take a stab at this? I'll make it really tough: Do so using the 'Mandelbrot Set' as an allegorical comparison.

Wow, Al You've really thrown down the proverbial gauntlet there. Well, I guess I'll have to mentally dust off those old psychology and fractal geometry lessons! Give me some time to work on that, I'll try not to turn it into a term paper! You've obviously thought about this, but let's try not to get to deep about this, otherwise we might find ourselves the only two conversing on this thread! Besides, I'm still working explaining my theories about NBM on Sensual World & The Red Shoes for MT! I have to think about this after work, I just can't think on that level here! But, I do think you have a good theory here.

I love it! ;D Zan I knew you'd be down with this thread. I agree we should avoid vectors and equations for the sake of brevity and general appeal. But my inspiration for this thread (a track by BMG), after some online research, reveals that my idea is not wholly original--but it is unique none-the-less. For those curious enough to discover new worlds, look these topics up and join in the discussion. A cursory overview will give you a taste of the infinite possibilties here. To quote the Intl Society for Gestalt Theory and Applications (GTA) : "Gestalt may be applied far beyond the limits of sensory perception" To compare the music of Kate Bush and it's complexity, to how 'Mandelbrot's Set' (equation) keeps developing into cognitive and beautiful patterns offers a myriad of possibilities. There are mathmatical cues in fractail geometry that can create patterns in art and nature. It would be similar to the pairing of amino acids that occur in mapping the human genome (DNA replications- in a biological context.) To apply these priciples of 'art meets science' to musical and visual expression (e.g., to Kate Bush and her impact), helps me to understand just a glimmer of what makes life so miraculous. MT, I hope you'll join in with others on this thread. To me this is what dreams are made of.

If you've read the previous commentary, please listen to the "Moments of Pleasure" playlist for 'Week XIV' for an elaboration of this theme. Post your observations on both threads.

O.K....This is where I veered off course. Them heavy people apparently hit you guys in a sore spot. I promise to be less pseudo-intellectual for awhile. This may be my favorite thread, because it is dynamic--a work in progress. Please continue to post about how Kate has influenced you. Also do you see her influence in other artists and vice-versa?

Hey Al & everybody! NO, no you haven't gotten rid of me that easily! ;D I had my brother staying with me the last few days so I wasn't at work and able to respond. I have been so busy the last few days that I have to read all the posts that I have missed. Some of you have asked some big questions that I have been pondering while listening to Kate. As soon as I catch up, I'll be back with a vengeance. You'll be sick of me. And, until the new album, we have all the time in the world! But, now, I have to be sure I get my vote in at Weakest Link!
