As there was one song clearly ahead of the rest in this week's votes, with three other songs tied in second position, only Symphony In Blue is being voted out this week. So I'm afraid you're going to have to make that very tough decision again! Simply choose your 2 least favourite songs from the list of preliminary winners below. State why you chose them to vote off, or if you find that too hard, say why you like the song... Your choices are: [glow=pink,2,300]Moving Breathing Night Of The Swallow Running Up That Hill Hello Earth The Sensual World Moments Of Pleasure[/glow] You have until Monday 28th February to vote! Have fun and don't be insulted TOO much by other people's votes! (Although isn't that half the fun of it? )

this week i'm voting off the songs
[glow=red,2,300]Moving[/glow] [glow=red,2,300]Moments of pleasure[/glow]
I will not surrender to your attempts not voting off MOP, i understand the emotional message this song shows and i absoulutely love it's lyrics but i find the music too repetetive. I don't say i will allways won't love it but i'll try to. at this time i'm not really a fond of it

[glow=pink,2,300]Breathing Moments Of Pleasure[/glow] My reason's remain the same for ''Breathing'' as last time.. Listening to the first half has become prefunctory foreplay for me in route to the climatic ending. But since I've gotten to where I just skip the first half (I know, I'm retarded ) to get to the ending, it has to go earlier than later. 'Brilliant, creative and entirely worthy of staying on. But based just on personal preference I must vote accordingly. Likewise with ''Moments of Pleasure'' 'Love it. Just not as much as the others. Reminscient songs as a whole are not my favorites. ''Blow Away'' is a better song to me in that respect.

Same as last time, I'm saying goodbye to Breathing & The Sensual World
Same reasons as last time.
If I may quote Arthur Miller (from The Crucible) - "a pointy reckoning" is due to those unfortunate souls misguided enough to vote for Moments of Pleasure.
and yes Al, I agree - of it's type, Blow Away was better, but of course that was blown away ages ago..

This week I'm going for Moving again, for the same reasons as last week... ...and also Moments Of Pleasure, just because the choice is far too tight now to make sensible choices! The end section of this song is incredibly emotive and the reference to "Douglas Fairbanks waving his walking stick" is so touching. I also love the twirling video in "TLTCATC". I don't expect to be in Adey's good books at all this week

I guess Sto and I have similar taste, so I'm going with him again... Moving Moments of Pleasure Moving, only because I'm trying to remain consistant and I prefer the later material. And MOP, since it is the one I will skip on TRS if time is short, maybe it's too poignant for casual listening. It's a beautiful song, but not quite as musically adventuresome as the others. If I may quote Arthur Miller (from The Crucible) - "a pointy reckoning" is due to those unfortunate souls misguided enough to vote for Moments of Pleasure. I suppose I am really asking for a thrashing now, right Adey? But you have skewered your fair share... Same as last time, I'm saying goodbye to Breathing & The Sensual World Touché...

I vote to eliminate "The Sensual World" and "Breathing".
Choosing between "Moments of Pleasure" and "Breathing" is hard for me. Although they both seem more repetitive than a lot of her music, I find Breathing to be the more repetitive of the two. I really like the end of Breathing though; to me it foreshadows what was to come on "The Dreaming".
Also, in spite of the powerful message in the lyrics of "Breathing", I find "MOP" to be a much more moving song. I guess it is the combination of the melody, the personal feeling conveyed by the prominence of Kates piano playing, and the way the lyrics always get me thinking of my own "special people" and leave me wanting to connect with them. Unless I am distracted while it is playing, MOP nearly always evokes a deep emotional response in me.

Thanks for that insight Sal'! Do you think "Breathing" would be more moving if we were still living in 1980, with the threat of a nuclear attack as a real possibility? I think we may have discussed this here before, but it's interesting to see if a topical song like this loses its effectiveness when the context disappears.
Despite not having lived for much of the nuclear age of the '80s, I find "Breathing" amazingly powerful and evocative. Perhaps it's because the threat of terrorism is a sort of replacement for the nuclear threat? "I love my beloved/ Only the fools blew it, you and me knew life itself is breathing..." - that part still seems very revelvant in today's society!
