Frightened eyes. I'm not really sure why I like this one less than the others... I can see why she didn't release it, it just seems less mature somehow... The Rare Flower. It's fun, but she couldn't get away with it unless she was a teenager.

Sto, will you extend the deadline? I'll vote after your answer.

Hi Al', I'm still here, and I'll delay the deadline - haven't exactly had the best response ever this week!! What's going on with the board? I've checked every so often and I can't really work out where we're at, are we carrying on?

As you've noted, we've had a blip on the screen, however, I believe we are stronger than ever now.

Yes Sto, we're carrying on. We've lost a couple of people and that's a damn shame - but we need the remaining core members to keep the faith right now.
As I haven't been playing on this part of the Kate rate, and because of our recent losses, you will be down on response numbers. Sorry about that, especially as I know you've put a lot of work in on this part of the Board. But there are new people on-board; hopefully all they need is time to find their feet.
I agree with AT. We are basically in good shape for the future, especially if you continue to support the forum in the way that you have.

Okay, here goes:''It Hurts Me'' and only because of the phrasing. It doesn't flow as well as the others.
''The Rare Flower'' mainly 'cos it has 2 stikes already against it. I haven't the passion to defend it.

Thanks to both of you for your comments and votes!! "Thanks to both of you" - 2 responses seems like scant reward for your efforts here Sto, membership problems or no.. I'll come on board for the last round(s) if I may, when you post. I did consider my reasons for not contributing to this part of your Kate Rate, to be valid ones at the time. However, I have listened to the demos a lot over the last week, and now feel that I can contribute fairly rather than just voting for the sake of it. Hopefully another vote might help you feel that the excercise is more valid/worthwhile.

Thanks Adey I think the fact we've got through so many KateRates (a year's worth!) shows that the board has maintained interest for a long time, so I'm very happy, I think it's been a success and inspired lots of discussion about some very interesting aspects of many of Kate's songs that might not otherwise have cropped up here. Now we've finished the albums, the rounds aren't so important. I do appreciate you contributing though, and I'm glad you gave the demos a chance, I hope you've enjoyed listening! I hope Zan doesn't still feel isolated from here after the lack of replies to her post in the first B-Sides post...I'd love to see you joining in here sometimes again Zan, I miss your contributions! The next round will be coming tomorrow, so think about which songs you want voted off...!

I hope Zan doesn't still feel isolated from here after the lack of replies to her post in the first B-Sides post...I'd love to see you joining in here sometimes again Zan, I miss your contributions! I have really appreciated all the work you have put into this Sto. I'm sorry if I haven't been voting recently, but I thought it was unfair, since I wasn't too familiar with all the demos to make any judgement. I guess when it came down to just the few of us... any vote mattered. I felt a little bad about it, the B-sides issue. I think overall I felt we were getting away from any good discussions, about Kate or otherwise. I'm really glad your back, and I can already feel a change. I missed your contributions too, and you have already gotten me more interested in Deeper Understanding.

Thanks Zan! I think I've learnt that the Cathy demos are very underlistened-to, I personally think they're a great collection of songs, and I'd have enjoyed many of them if they'd been on "The Kick Inside" or "Lionheart"! I wonder sometimes how Kate managed to choose between them when deciding on tracklists (For example, as brilliant as I think "Lionheart" is, I think she could have chosen some much catchier songs from her demos than the ones she did choose - but maybe her aim was to be seen as a more mature artists, with "Kashka" and "Fullhouse" etc., as opposed to being a commercial artist). After this, I wonder if you could repost your B-Sides post in the "Everything Else" forum or the "This Woman's Work" forum, so they can be given the credit/analysis they deserve? I want to reply but I think it'll still get lost if tagged onto the end of one of the posts on this board. What do you say?
