Stranded at the Moonbase. Her own version of Rocket Man? It's great, but she got to record Rocket Man eventually. Somthing Like a Song: Not too crazy about that oh-who who ah who who oh who who part.

I'm going to vote like Sheila with:
Something like A Song. Although it reminds me of parts of "Oh to be in Love,'' it starts too slow and the vocal gymnastics, while impressive, are not to my liking either. BTW, another song that I noticed with some similarities to a later song was ''Cussi Cussi,'' which reminded me, in parts, of ''Warm and Soothing''
secondly:
Stranded at the Moonbase, while musically pleasing, it was, shall I dare say, lyrically sophmoric??

But Al', last week you voted in "Something Like A Song" as your fifth favourite! I have to defy both of you, because I love the "ooh ooh aah ooh" part, it's so gentle and fragile (perhaps it could have been in "So Soft"?) I'd never thought, Sheila, about any parallels between "Stranded At The Moonbase" and "Rocket Man", but it's a good link, I wonder if it inspired her? I think it also goes well with Bowie's "Space Oddity". I actually think the lyrics to "Stranded" are pretty good: the melancholic resignation to her destiny in "The air is getting low, the air is getting low" is very moving - the unltimate helplessness, emphasising that despite all our technological advances and space exploration, we'd be nowhere without the simplest of things: air. Does anyone else see "the big white dove" as metaphor for impending death/going to Heaven?

Does anyone else see "the big white dove" as metaphor for impending death/going to Heaven? I always thought the "big white dove" thing was impending death too Sto. I think the lyrics are great (C'mon , Al, they're pretty good! ) I also thought of the Space Oddity connection too, Sto. She even ended up naming one of her pets "Rocket", not to mention Rocket's Tail which ironically to me anyway seems considerably more immature than Stranded at the Moonbase lyrically. A cross between this and "Kite" perhaps? A penny for your thoughts, Al...

I think the lyrics are great (C'mon , Al, they're pretty good! ) ''creaking of the Pearly gates above?'' Also, Sheila my thoughts are worth considerably more than A penny. But since it's you .....(plus an FYI for Sto' here) I voted against ''SLAS"' because it already had one negative vote, and my feelings changed somewhat after listening with a 'negative ear' I did not have strong feelings for it in particular, as in both rounds of voting I've tried to find agreement. I'm a team player.

Oh, wait we are at the end anyway... I thought "creaking of the pearly gates above" was a really great line. What's your beef with it, Al?

Well I refuse to conform I'm going for: Nevertheless You'll DoA nice little ditty, but a bit of a filler in my opinion. A bit of fun. Scares Me SillyQuite an odd song, I think I'd like it better if it were better quality/better production, but it just don't get me going...not like a Romeo, I guess...

Sto' do you plan on posting a complete list of all the voting results at the end? And what about the head to head competition with other artists from the same time periods?

He's been abducted by Aliens. Along with Lori, August, Colleen, MM........ Too darn right.. Mind you, to be fair, it is the examination season for those in education. Just a bit surprised as we are now well in excess of Sto's deadline.

I think I can recall Rob saying that it could be a while until he gets around to updating this thread.
