This week, three tracks were voted off, although it was all extremely close. "Heads We're Dancing", "Between A Man And A Woman" and "Reaching Out" have been forced to leave their fellow album-mates. This means that we are left with these lucky songs: The Sensual World Love And Anger The Fog Never Be Mine Rocket's Tail This Woman's Work This week we're looking for two tracks to be ousted, so vote off your two least favoruite tracks and, as always, enjoy discussing as to why you like these tracks!

This is getting too hard! This week I'm voting off:
* The Fog I'll ignore all the protest movements and stay stubborn! "The Fog"'s time has to be up now!
* This Woman's Work I think I'm going to cause a riot with this choice. As much as I absolutely adore this track, I just can't vote any of the others off yet. This is one heck of a track, with beautiful and tender verses at the beginning, building up to an intense, exciting and breath-taking part towards the end. I love the open ending, ie. the fact that it doesn't conclude with a final note, but kind of leaves it hanging. It reflects the fact that we are not told what will happen to the protagonist either.
Right, I'm ready for all the complaints! ;D

* 'Never Be Mine' This was hard to do! * 'Rocket's Tail' Not as difficult to chose. I'll elaborate later today. Got to go soon! "The Fog" lives! (3rd best on album!)

OK...getting back to my ousters.... *'Never be Mine' paints a beautifully melancholic picture (oxymoronic but an apt description) The lyrics and the music are the stars here. Kate would not necessarily have to sing this song to make it good, I prefer her efforts that showcase her wonderful voice. I do like how she associates the smell of burning fields with a newfound feeling. It's such a vivid image, and an appropriate allegory for losing something and starting over. * 'Rocket's Tail' Couldn't imagine hearing it without 'Never be Mine' preceding it, so it's got to go too. What I do love is the guitar and the BV harmonies. Now for your voting off 'This Woman's Work'...I'm not too concerned. That may be the only negative vote it receives. It and 'Sensual World' will be the two finalists without a doubt. But, just in case you're trying to poison the well, I'll defend it. "This Woman's Work" may have the most dynamic and primal emotional theme of any of her songs. The crescendo's and the use of volume levels, accentuate the angst of human longing and regret. It is also a tribute to the tenacity and hope of the human spirit, and specifically that strength in women. It's not only the best from this album; It may be her best work ever.

Thanks Al'! I think time is up for Rocket's Tail I don't want to see it go!! I don't think "The Sensual World" is in any danger at the moment. But you never know, if "The Fog" remains as popular as it seems now, it might be that and "TWW" in the final! "LAA" will certainly make good competition next week, too. I have no clue how I'm going to vote next week!

Agreed. Sto'
I had to go back and edit my post. I'd inadvertantly put 'The Sensual World" instead of 'This Woman's Work'

I was away on mini vacation. I am pretty upset to see both Reaching Out and Deeper Undertanding gone. I thing the vocals are amazing on RO and the arrangement on DU is quite unique. My choices to discard are: The Fog--The lyrics are quite good but it just drags on for me. Never Be Mine--harder for me to vote off
I hope that there are others out there who see the intended scene created with Rocket's Tail.

'The Fog' & 'Rocket's Tail'.
I absolutely love 'Never Be Mine'... it's such a lovely song. One of my favourite's on this album, although funnily enough it never made an impact on me at all until I'd listened to the album like a million times. 'This Woman's Work' has always touched me since the first time I heard it and 'The Sensual World' is so feminine and quite unique to Kate's music in my oppinnion. It was a toss up between 'The Fog', 'Rocket's Tail' and 'Love & Anger', but I think we'll save 'Love & Anger'... this time ;D

How can I vote off ANY of these songs? Please, no one hate me, but The Fog---but only cuz I can't vote off the others! I love The Fog, but it's more meandering than the others. I realize it's supposed to be, but I'm grabbing at straws here! My next choice Love and Anger because not even Kate knows what that song is about. It's fun and catchy and warm but I CAN'T vote off any of the others!!

Al' - 'ElimiKate' would be a genius idea, if it didn't sound like I was part of an anti-Kate terrorist group ;D Zan and everyone - It is getting quite tricky isn't it?! Next week will be painful, but it's fun anyway Unfortunately, Zan, it looks like "The Fog" may be heading out of the board...! Robdestiny - I hope you enjoyed your vacation! I agree that "Reaching Out" is a great song with great vocals. I'd have liked it to stay longer! I'm not such a big fan of "Deeper Understanding" though... Lori - "Never Be Mine" MUST be saved until next week at least, I agree! Shelia - It's very hard at this stage, I know. I reccomend you check the "Song Meanings" board for Zan's extensive and excellent explanation of "Love And Anger" - Kate may not understand it, but Zan certianly seems to

So you think 'ElimiKate' is a bit radical. ;D (you know that was a tongue in cheek submittal, right? ) As 'The Fog' lifts it is revealed that ethereal and complex compositions are not good karaoke material. Must we be able to sing or dance to every song to make it a success?

Hehe, yes I did know I'm still thinking of a new title, although I may just stick with how it is now, it seems to be doing the trick! And, although there is an instrumental of it, I don't think "The Sensual World" is a very good track to sing/dance to either, but it's still in the running!
