First post, might be fairly long -- sorry!
So, I've kind of been on a collision course with Kate's music for my entire life. I am quite an Anglophile, especially when it comes to music, and my parents have been quite big Peter Gabriel fans for many, many years, so Kate's voice has certainly popped up more than once in the background of my childhood.
I'm not really sure what kept me from really delving into her back catalog all these years (I'm now in my early 20s,) but for some reason I just...never did. It's not like I had anything against her, I just remember being fairly indifferent (though I did know that all the UK magic magazines were completely in love with her.) I guess the fact that, as many of you who live in the USA can attest, it's not like you hear her stuff on commercial radio all that often (though you don't really hear *anything* good on commercial radio these days...I digress) probably didn't help either.
For whatever reason, I started watching videos, etc, of hers over the web a little while back, and gradually got more and more curious. Started buying a couple of albums. A lot of my music collection is the kind of stuff that takes a few rounds of scrutiny before you can really appreciate it. Well, I've now gotten through those first few rounds of scrutiny...and people, I am **obsessed** now.
I can't believe I passed over this stuff this long - I feel like I've stumbled into a musical goldmine, and the big thrill for me is that I still have a few more albums to make my way through (hey, they're new to me, so they may as well have come out last week!)
Just had to find a place on the net that I could share my enthusiam -- this seemed like a good place to do it.
