Ok, this might be a stupid question; but what instrument is that in the background? It sounds like a harpsichord, but it's not mentioned in the notes of the CD. Max

[green]Here comes the sunshine Here comes that son of mine Here comes the everything Here’s a song and a song for him...[/green]THE SUN: BERTIE[blue]Basic Card Symbols[/blue]The Sun, one or two naked children (a naked little boy, sometimes riding a white pony or a boy & a girl), sunflowers, often a wall, sometimes a banner. [purple]Basic Tarot Story[/purple]The Fool wakes at dawn from his long, restless night to find that the wild river has, at last, come to an end, quietly floating him into a serene pool. There is a walled garden around this pond dominated by roses, lilies and splendid, nodding sunflowers. Stepping ashore, he watches the Sun rise overhead, bright and golden. The day is clear. A child's laughter attracts his attention and he sees a little boy ride a small white pony into the garden. "Come!" says the little boy, leaping off the horse and running up to him. "Come see!" And the child proceeds to take the Fool's hand and enthusiastically point out all manner of things, the busy insects in the grass, the seeds and petals on the sunflowers, the way the light sparkles on the pond. He asks questions of the Fool, simple but profound ones, like "Why is the sky blue?" He sings songs, and plays games with the Fool. At one point the Fool stops, blinking up at the Sun so large and golden overhead, and he finds himself smiling, wider and brighter than he has in a very long time. Since he started on this spiritual journey, he has been tested and tried, confused and scared, dismayed and amazed. But this is the first time that he has been simply and purely happy. His mind feels illuminated, his soul light and bright as a sunbeam. Like the great Sun itself, this child with his simple questions, games and songs, has helped the Fool see the world and himself anew, to wonder at and appreciate both. "Who are you?" the Fool asks the child at last. The child smiles at this and seems to shine. And then he grows brighter and brighter until he turns into pure sunlight. "I'm You," the boy's voice says throughout the garden, "The new you." And as the words fill the Fool with warmth and energy, he comes to realize that this garden, the sun above, the child, all exist within him. He has just met his own inner light [blue]Basic Tarot Meaning[/blue]The Sun is ruled by...the Sun, of course. This is the light that comes after the long dark night, Apollo to the Moon's Diana. A positive card, it promises the Querent their day in the sun. Glory, gain, triumph, pleasure, truth, success. As the moon symbolized inspiration from the unconscious, from dreams, this card symbolizes discoveries made fully consciousness and wide awake. This is science and math, beautifully constructed music, carefully reasoned philosophy. It is a card of intellect, clarity of mind, and feelings of youthful energy. And, yes, the child/children in this card can be taken literally if other cards in the spread seem to suggest it. Your Querent can be informed that a wanted and most welcome babe will soon be on the way. Likely a boy, or twins. [purple]Thirteen's Opinion[/purple]I actually have predicted children with this card once, and once only. Most of the time, however, this card, to me, is all about the Apollian ideal. Young, healthy, new, fresh. The brain is working, things that were muddled come clear, everything falls into place, and everything seems to go your way. It's one of those days when it all goes right. Just right. The money you were waiting for arrives and a bonus has been added, the project you've been working on comes out perfectly and you get all the credit. Traffic lights turn green for you, liars come clean and apologize, the garden blooms, the sky is blue, the weather is warm and sweet. As the song goes, "Here comes the Sun...." and absolutely everything is going to be all right. Here Comes The Sun (George Harrison) Here comes the sun, here comes the sun And I say it's all right Little darlin' it's been a long cold lonely winter Little darlin' it feels like years since it's been here Here comes the sun, here comes the sun And I say it's all right Little darlin' the smiles returning to their faces Little darlin' it seems like years since it's been here Here comes the sun, here comes the sun And I say it's all right...[blue]see more:[/blue]www.aeclectic.net/tarot/learn/meanings/

Homeric Hymn 12 to HeraI sing of golden-throned Hera whom Rhea bare. Queen of the immortals is she, surpassing all in beauty: she is the sister and the wife of loud-thundering Zeus, -- the glorious one whom all the blessed throughout high Olympus reverence and honour even as Zeus who delights in thunder.Orphic Hymn 16 to HeraO royal Hera, of majestic mien, aerial-formed, divine, Zeus' blessed queen, throned in the bosom of cerulean air, the race of mortals is thy constant care. The cooling gales they power alone inspires, which nourish life, which every life desires. Mother of showers and winds, from thee alone, producing all things, mortal life is known: all natures share thy temperament divine, and universal sway alone is thine, with sounding blasts of wind, the swelling sea and rolling rivers roar when shook by thee. Come, blessed Goddess, famed almighty queen, with aspect kind, rejoicing and serene. THE PEACOCKDesign by Kate and PeacockThe peacock is sacred to Hera. Both sister and wife of Zeus, Hera is queen of the gods. The Greeks revered her as protector of marriage, especially married women. This may be because she had such a difficult marriage herself. Zeus was not the least bit faithful, always succumbing to his lust for other women - mortal as well as immortal. Hera herself, however, was always faithful despite the repeated attentions of others trying to take her away. ARGOS PANOPTES was a hundred-eyed giant who lived in the region of Argolis in the Peloponnese. Once when Zeus was consorting with the Nymph Io, his wife Hera arrived on the scene. Zeus quickly transformed his lover into a white heifer, but Hera was not deceived. She demanded the animal for a gift and set Argos Panoptes as its guard. Zeus sent Hermes to surreptitiously rescue his lover. The god first tried to lull the giant to sleep with his music, but failing that, slew him with his sword. It was from this endeavour that he earned his familiar title Argeiphontes (literally "the slayer of Argos"). Hera rewarded Argos for his service by placing his hundred eyes on the tail of her sacred bird, the peacock. The bird sacred to Hera is first and foremost a solar symbol, stemming from the way in which it spreads its tail in the shape of a wheel. In Christian tradition, too, the peacock symbolizes the solar wheel and hence is a sign of immortality. Its tail evokes the starry sky. In Buddhist Jataka, the peacock is a shape under which the Bodhisattva teaches renunciation of worldly attachments. To Muslims, the peacock is a cosmic symbol and when it spreads its tail it represents either the whole universe, or the full Moon, or the Sun at its zenith. In Egypt, the phoenix was usually depicted as a heron, but in the classic literature as a peacock or an eagle. The phoenix bird symbolizes immortality, resurrection and life after death. In ancient Greek and Egyptian mythology, it is associated with the sun god. A Sufi legend, probably of Persian origin, tells that God created the Spirit in the form of a peacock and showed it in the mirror of the Divine Essence its own image. The peacock was seized with reverential awe and let falls drops of sweat, and from these all other beings were created. The peacock's outspread tail imitates the cosmic deployment of the Spirit. NBC has been nicknamed "the Peacock network". Some say it uses the phoenix-as-peacock because of the Eye symbolism on the tail. see more: 'Indus Bird Mask'/Heron - Phoenixkatebush.proboards6.com/index.cgi?board=parttwo&action=display&n=1&thread=2455

On the Pi lyrics page, why is there no Bertie cartoon representing the number 4? Could it be that the photograph of Bertie itself represents the number 4? The Tarot Card Number 4 is The Emperor... Son of Morning... Aries, the infant... Impatient, demanding, controlling... The most wilful... The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born...THE EMPEROR (L'Empereur) Son of Morning: Chief Among the MightyCard Number: 4 Key Number: 15 Rulership: Aries Hebrew Letter: Heh Translation: Window Numerical Value: 12 Basic Tarot Symbols Throne, ram's heads, orb and sceptre. Sometimes an Eagle. Basic Tarot Story The Fool was given options by the Magician, and decided on one with help from the High Priestess. He learned how to develop it, thanks to the Empress. Now he must manage it. How to do this? He approaches a great Emperor seated on a stone throne. The Fool is amazed by the way the Emperor is instantly, eagerly obeyed in every particular, at how well his Empire is run. Respectfully, he asks the Emperor how it is he does this. And the Emperor answers: "Strong will and a solid foundation. It's all very well," he explains to the Fool, "to be dreamy, creative, instinctual, patient; but to control one must be alert, brave and aggressive." Ready now to lead rather than be led, the Fool heads out with new purpose and direction. Basic Tarot Meaning As Aries, the Ram, the Emperor naturally follows the pregnant Empress. Aries is the infant, the first sign of the Zodiac. Like an infant, he is filled with enthusiasm, energy, aggression. He is direct, guileless and all too often irresistible. Unfortunately, like a baby he can also be a tyrant. Impatient, demanding, controlling. In the best of circumstances, he signifies the leader that everyone wants to follow, sitting on a throne that indicates the solid foundation of an Empire he created, loves and rules with intelligence and enthusiasm. But that throne can also be a trap, a responsibility that has the Emperor feeling restless, bored and discontent. Thirteen's Observations The Emperor card is the "Who's the boss?" card. It is an important question. The meaning of the card includes being in control over your environment, your body, your temper, your instincts, your love life. This is not the time to give into the unconscious, not the time to let yourself be controlled by others wants and needs. It is a card that gives the Querent permission to be aggressive, brave, bold and in command. The Emperor could be a father or father figure, leader or employer, either a demanding tyrant or a charismatic King [of the Mountain?]. If the card stands for the Querent, he/she should think about whether their Empire has become an unwelcome chore and if it has, are they now a bad leader, demanding, unreasonable, unhappy. It might be time to abdicate the throne. www.aeclectic.net/tarot/learn/meanings/emperor.shtmlI dare say the reason why there is no Bertie cartoon representing the number 4 lies elsewhere. But in the course of this research, I did find this excellent Tarot site...The Pythagorean Tarot: An Interpretation of the Major and Minor Arcana on Pythagorean and Alchemical Principles www.cs.utk.edu/~mclennan/BA/PT/PT.html

That does look like a very good Tarot site. And the stuff about The Emperor is interesting... it does remind me of 'the most wilful.' And the 'Son of the Morning' title makes me think of the sun, and wouldn't it be the sun of the morning, sort of, that is described with "here comes the sunshine, here comes that son of mine?"

Yes, The Emperor is 'most wilful' and the 'Son of Morning'. KB clearly identifies Bertie as "the sunshine/that son of mine". And 'Man is the Son of the Sun' ( Son of Ra). The Emperor also represents the characteristically masculine aspects of consciousness, solar illumination and the bright sun. Apparently, Albert ("Bertie") was born in July 1998. www.imdb.com/name/nm0124165/bioThe Sun: Bertie... So I guess he is a LEO. LEO: July 23-August 22; a fire sign; ruled by The Sun. In mythology, Leo is associated with the Greco-Roman god Apollo. Astrologers broadly agree that a person born under the sign of Leo is very Noble, Sunny & Bright... ...and the name ALBERT has its origins in the Germanic name Adalbrecht, meaning "noble-bright"... ...and AERIAL is Published by Kate Bush trading as Noble and Brite... Previously, KB had traded under Novercia Ltd. Kate has never discussed why she chose this name. The word "novercia" does not exist in Latin. "Noverca" does, meaning stepmother, and derives from "noverica" meaning "the new [female] one". Indeed, 'Noverica' is 'Novercia' rearranged. But, if KaTe wanted her company to mean "the new [female] one", why the anagram? As an anagram, 'Novercia' reveals some interesting possibilities, such as VERA ICON and VERONICA. According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, the name "Veronica" comes from the (Latin: vera) meaning "true or truthful," and (Greek: eikon) meaning "image;" the Veil of Veronica was therefore largely regarded in medieval times as "the true image" [vera icon], and the truthful representation of Jesus, preceding the Shroud of Turin. 'Veronica' also means "she who brings victory". The name of KaTe's current company is 'Noble and Brite', and seems very much taken from the meaning of 'Albert', the name she chose for her son. So was 'Novercia' derived from someone called 'Veronica'? Saint VeronicaMemorial: 12 July Profile: When Christ fell on his way to the Golgotha, a woman wiped his face with a towel; an image of Christ remained on the towel. This woman was Veronica, this incident is all we really know about her, and the relic has become her symbol ever since. Patronage: laundry workers, photographers However, KaTe's Confirmation name is Mary...

Like his mother. Good connections with the Leo information, and the name etymology of 'Albert' meaning noble/bright. I could really imagine 'Noble and Brite' being something Kate chose for that reason.

A lioness and her lion cub... On ArielThe name Ariel is of Hebrew origin. Ariel means "Lion of God" or "Lioness of God". Ariel is also a biblical alternate name for Jerusalem, and the name of a prankish spirit in Shakespeare's The Tempest.Archangel Ariel "This archangel, predictably, is often associated with lions. When Ariel is near, you might begin seeing references to, or visions of lion’s head. This archangel is also associated with the wind, so when Ariel is around you, you may feel or hear the wind as a sign. Archangel Ariel is described in books of Judaic mysticism and cabalistic magic, such as The Testament of Solomon, the Greater Key of Solomon, Ezra, and The Hierarchy of the Blessed Angels. Ariel works closely with King Solomon in conducting manifestation, spirit releasement and Divine magic. Ariel is very involved with healing and protecting nature – and that includes animals, fish and birds – especially wild ones. If you find an injured bird or other non-domesticated animal that needs healing, call upon Ariel for help. Ariel works with Archangel Raphael to heal animals in need." www.gallerydaniellemarie.com/gallery/ariel.htmThen there's the LIONHEART album cover... ...Strange Phenomena!

Strange Phenomena indeed. The stuff about Archangel Ariel seems to fit very well into Aerial for me. The Annunciation of Bertie to the Blessed MediaThe "Kate" Christmas TV special aired December 28, 1979. This forty-five-minute television programme is the only longform televised performance Kate has given to date. It is by any standard a great success. Not one spoken word is heard - only song and dance. Kate's only guest (aside from the KT Bush Band and her usual dance partners) is Peter Gabriel. The show features an a cappella introduction for Peter Gabriel (Peter the Angel Gabriel)...Through velvet storms And the rains that fell Here comes the man With his tale to tell And some have named him Peter, The Angel Gabriel...This is sung by Kate, Paddy and one of Kate's female vocal supporters from the Tour of Life. The brief introduction segues directly into Peter Gabriel's performance of his song 'Here Comes the Flood', which he sings at an electric piano.Note: The a cappella introduction begins with a camera shot of a brilliant yellow light. This could be the Christmas Star of Wonder, the bright light that drew the Magi to Bethlehem. In which case, Kate, Paddy and Female trio could be seen as the Three Wise Men! ... However, when the camera zooms out, a brilliant yellow AND brilliant white light are revealed. And these could represent (the meeting of) THE SUN and THE MOON...Kate Bush Christmas Special 12/28/79 ~ Cut 4/11www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCIDFOFmRGg&feature=relatedThe Angel GabrielIn Abrahamic religions, Gabriel is an angel who is thought to serve as a messenger from God. In the Christian Tradition, he is known as one of the four (Catholicism only recognizes three, while there are seven in the Eastern Orthodox Church) archangels. In the Gospel of Luke, Gabriel reveals to the Jewish Pharisee and Priest Zechariah that John the Baptist will be born to Zechariah's wife Elizabeth (Luke 1:5-20) and visits Elizabeth's cousin Mary to reveal that she will give birth to Jesus. Gabriel's visit to Mary is often called "The Annunciation" (Luke 1:26-38), an event that is celebrated on March 25 in the Eastern Orthodox and Catholic churches. It is also commemorated as the "First Joyful Mystery" of the rosary. According to later legend, Gabriel is also the unidentified angel in the Book of Revelation (the Apocalypse of John) who blows the final trumpet announcing Judgment Day Revelation 12:15."The Annunciation of Bertie"'I am just a quiet reclusive person who has managed to hang around for a while,' she said recently. However, if Bush is a tight-lipped recluse, she is damned good at it. In these uber-media-saturated times it says something that no one knew that son Bertie had been born for 18 months, until long-time family friend Peter Gabriel let it slip..."Comeback Kate"arts.guardian.co.uk/features/story/0,,1582789,00.html A Freudian Slip? Or do you think the announcement made by Peter 'The Angel' Gabriel was an orchestrated press release from the Bush camp?Is Bertie the Second Coming? ...Strange Phenomena indeed! ...
