These are the songs I like least of all the songs Kate has made. And I was wondering if other people at this forum had some Kate songs they didn't like because everything i've read so far is so wildy enthousiastic. Ive been a great Kate Bush fan ever since her first album and I absolutely love most of her songs (this in my defence) but these songs just don't do it for me.

The only one I kind of agree with you is Reaching Out. I hated that song 15 years ago but it's grown on me since then. My vote goes to "Constellation of the Heart". Unless "Candle in the Wind" counts then my vote goes to that one. I HATE THAT SONG!!!!! I DON'T CARE WHO SINGS IT I HATE THAT SONG!!!

Mothers should not be allowed to sing about their children.

Mothers should not be allowed to sing about their children. Agreed. If I ever have a child and I am compelled to right a song about it, someone slap me, OK? ;D J/K I think hate is a little strong for me. There are songs I like less than others and will skip on occasion if time is short. The only one of those above might be Reaching Out. Otherwise I like all of them, especially Rubberband Girl, and I know Sheila does too. Probably my least favorite are Mother Stands for Comfort and Waking the Witch. I like your new signature, Kevan. And I actually know what that's a reference to. There are a great many "Sheila-isms"... you are just at the beginning. J/K

There is exactly one song with Kate's name on it which can be deemed horrible, even by Pop Music standards. And that song is what you KNOW was originally called "Y should I Luv U". And I likecan tolerate Prince.

And I imagine it must help to have a sense of humor when one is in Chicago. Oh boy I really like both Mother... and Waking the Witch... which is ok, different strokes... I'm just surprised that these two would be the ones singled out. And yeah, the signature was originally in reference to Pat's version of WH but really I just consider it to be a great commentary for most everything.

"Mother Stands for Comfort" is one of my (current) top ten favorites. And "Waking the Witch" is in the top half. But to each there own. My least favorite Kate song is "Passing Through Air" It is the b-side to "Army Dreamers" and is perhaps a good pop song - but nothing significant or memorable. 'Too mainstream....but I really don't hate any of her songs. I do strongly dislike only snippets of a handful of them.

To these ears, there's something to love in all of her songs.
If I had to pick a couple, then it would be Army Dreamers (too naive and cheesy sentimentality) and maybe Leave It Open. (For some reason, I never could quite let the weirdness in). I haven't much time for many of the demos either..
However, all of Kate's material rewards effort and constant re-evaluation. In the past I've skipped tracks that I think are marvellous today.
As for hate, the word doesn't exist in my Kate Bush appreciation file.

If anybody is interested in my view: violin...
I don't know it just doesn't do it for me. But I'm with Adey with his appreciation file... no 'hate' there to be found.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only devoted fan, that has some less favourite songs. I agree with contellation of the heart (should definitely have been in my list) and Candle in the wind (though Kate's version is the best version of this awfull song) I thought it was really funny that in the various pieces about Aerial there were so many different opinions. Very often critics agree on the songs that stand out, but with Aerial every song was best loved and most hated by some critic. And its the same with this topic. I love mother stands for comfort and waking the witch for example and I expected a lot of you to hate (or like less) Rubberband Girl with me!

I can't stand Ken. I think it's the repetitiveness of the keyboard or whatever.
And it sounds like a cheap novelty song. Speaking of which, I noticed while browsing online at amazon UK (I have relatives in England) that the complete Comic Strip Presents is out. A good opportunity to obtain the Kate starring episodes. If you're a completist, that is.

Well, I can't speak for Sheila specifically since I like Marilyn, but I think the song is cloying, nevertheless. And it sit unconfortably with me that Elton John ripped the song out from under her and rededicated it to Diana. I like Kate's version better though.
