Obviously I voted first 9 years, but I feel KB's career splits better thusly:
TKI, LH & NFE.
then she got serious..
TD, HOL & TSW.
before relaxing at bit..
TRS.
Time will tell if K8 joins Red Shoes or marks the start of a new creative style/phase.
Interesting poll..

This polls too inbalanced, not fair. Of course the first nine, who would vote differently?

Wherever HOL and The Dreaming are for now.... Only time will tell from here on out. I do like Adey's breakdown tho'.

no one voted for the third part?!. it was a fascinating era - doing a track in an irish album, getting compared to other artists and speculating why she isn't releasing an album already - obviousley a very good time in her career (just joking ;-) )

Fascinating indeed Mat - "Kate Bush ~ The Wilderness Years.."
Ironic that her first significant live apperance (with Dave Gilmour) since TOL should have taken place in this apparently barren phase of her career. Ironic also that her greatest act of creation also occurred in the 3rd phase.

OK, I like babies as much as the next guy, but personally I'd rather have The Dreaming.

It's funny. I think she's reached "idol" status now, but only in the 'third part' of her career. Was there as much interest as her now as there was in 1982, or 1993? I went against the grain because I adore "The Red Shoes" and "The Sensual World" and objected to "The Dreaming" and "HOL" being categorised with "TKI" And "Lionheart"

Actually, everytime I think about this it worries me a bit that I'm not going to be so keen on Kate's new music. I'm soooooooooo looking forward to the new release, but why is it that my favourite albums are the first 4 she released. And my least favourite is her latest. I hope it's not the fact that her music style is changing and I can't get into it.

I hope it's not the fact that her music style is changing and I can't get into it. But what if you grow to love her latter work as you get older - still remembering the earlier work with pleasant memories. Would that not be better than loving it at first and then becoming burned out on it? I can honestly say I was a bit disappointed with my first experience with the boxed set (TWW - at least the songs I was not familiar with) It may have been the anticipation, but still it took a while. Kate is one of 3 or 4 artists that I never tire of. What's more, I trust that I will always appreciate her work.

This is true. Every album she's made from The Dreaming on, I would give it a listen, then say, "What the hell was THAT?" It would take time (sometimes months) to appreciate the genius of each album.

Adey is right ofcourse: the split should be made differently. Not by years but by album intentions

I didn't make this post to be logical; I made it to graphically show Kate's output.
