Bravo Al, "Your war with ego" is paying dividends. The unfortunate thing as with any war is the loss of life. In this war with ego, it is the loss of ideas that is sad. Success in life is so often the result of confidence, talent actually coming down the list of virtues that are rewarded by our present society. Belief in self being the engine that drives our actions until we realise our potential. As for being a faceless person on a message board, you`re more real for me than many aquaintences that are in my life right now! Dr Wayne Dyer wrote, "You`ll see it when you believe it" wherein he describes our true self behind the appearance of who we are. Your words say more about you than the look of your face. Humour or no, I probably know you better now than many of your friends, simply because I have the opportunity to view you without a face. You are a beautiful person Al.

So far, I think the forum is great! More controversy is good, but we do need more updates. If anything is ever new I think a good discussion (argument) on the interpretation of the lyrics and inspirations would be a good addition if there isn't one. But, it should be agreed that it is to share opinions and thoughts, not just to say who is right! Whatever anyone feels about a song is important, and I think it is more interesting when there are many interpretations.

Yeah, we have a 'song meanings' board in here but unfortunately it's been a bit quiet in there lately. Maybe you can start a new subject in there to get a discussion going if you have anything in particular you'd like to comment on.

**digging** Again. You know, I tend to skip over reading from the polls board. There is some really good stuff to dig up here.

Every now and then I take myself too seriously. I use humor to take myself down a peg through either self-deprecation or sarcasm. I try to keep my ego in check somehow; but before long I preen around, full of myself. I think creative people struggle with many demons. The reason some of us are creative is that we have a skewed view of the world. Our unique perspective is often mistaken for brilliance. But by the yardstick of the mundane and 'normal' populace, we are very often brilliant in comparison. The naivete of youth need not be lost with age. You just need to disregard rampant ignorance that prevades much of our social intercourse. If you are able to combine that conditioned innocence with wisdom; you can speak with a beautiful voice. Kate does this. That's why this group can speak on a level that some people can't hear. To answer your question; yes we can arrive at a deeper understanding of the human condition. Whether we reach the ultimate root of reality makes little difference. It is the journey and perserverance that is important. Much like in the 'Myth of Sisyphus' who (Sisyphus) pushes his rock to the top of the mountain, only to have it roll back time and again. Some people say that hell is heaven. Dreams and hope are uplifted by the joy brought by such artists as Kate Bush or by just a faceless person on an obscure message board. (this is me 'writing hard' and taking myself very seriously) Coincidentally I was reading from this board before I read NEO's last post on borderline personality disorder's. Rehashing this thread is even more appropriate in that context..

The deeper we go into who we are the more we find. Our ego is always the barrier to real self discovery for it won't allow us to let go and be one with the universe.
Each of us being part of the one US, that once tuned into puts all conflict into context and what appears to be chaos is in fact order in a state of re-order.
It is your right to contradict this and when you do, there is our bi-polar state.

I want you to know that I found it very moving and thought about it last night long after I had signed off. You have a gift for the expression of vague emotions that I covet. Thanks for giving me some clarity. But, don't let it go to your head... we won't be able to breathe in here. ;D

Thank you Zan. Don't worry about it going to my head tho. It made me feel good, yet at the same time humble. I truly appreciate your words.

There's always room for a little more comedy on certain threads, as long as it's all in good fun and in appropriate places! ;D

i would definately want to see more humor here . but i don't like contreversies I like both in the right measure. Civil and honest disagreement is much healthier than pettiness and fighting. Mixing thoughtful debate with an appropriate amount of humor and good natured barbs; seems to be an interesting and focused outlook on the social dynamics of our group.

Sorry for the lack of controversy, but I voted for "Kate updates". I'm a lover not a fighter.

Kate has always pushed thee envelope, We should too Your Old English (derivative) dialect is fun to read. Does it take conscious effort or flow easily when speaking? Continue to push the envelope.
