I don't like quizes like "Name the top 10 favorite songs" or "If you were to go to an uninhabited island, what/which/who..." there are at least 4 albums which I would vote for for different reasons.. All this said, democracy seems to like the majority of the albums I like best so... Vive la democracy ;D

Vive La Democracy and Vive La Difference also..
If someone cares enough to post a poll or a competition, I'll play the game. We must 'oil the wheels' of our community here by showing basic respect (as you have done). Even if I have my own doubts/opinions about what I perceive to be the validity of a flippant or irrelevant post.

I voted "The Dreaming". My second choice would have been "The Hounds of love".

Did you all just forget Lionheart? It's a superb album! Just for the way she miss enunciates her words on Symphony in Blue, piano and fear, FABULOUS. I mean yes not her most intelligent work, but it has the carefree, comedy and innocence of her youth, without it being overly sentimental and love orientated like The Kick Inside, which is a good album. The only down point is In Search of Peter Pan.

A realisation that she too is famous, talented and it's all right to pull talent from that pool and collaborate. anyone agree/disagree? Who said anything about it hurting? It's gonna be beautiful It's gonna be wonderful It's gonna be paradise

I think Kate will have brought a more mature and wise direction to the new album. Red Shoes and The Dreaming had an impact, I sure, on how she felt about expressing herself. My hope is that she has ignored being too conservative and forged ahead. Since she doesn't need the money and shuns the limelight, it may be her most fulfilling work to date. Her collaborators are proficient and renowned without being 'stars.' With Kate at the helm, unconcerned with conflicting visions, (as with for example with Prince or Clapton on Red Shoes) then we will hear where her journey has lead her.

No Tabatha, I couild never forget Lionheart.. It may be her weakest, it may be flawed and it was certainly done in a hurry.. but I still say Kate never made a bad album, LH included.
How can you not love Symphony in Blue (I notice W.HI.P is using it as a signature) Wow, Don't Push Your Foot, Lionheart and of course In Search of Peter Pan though I see you don't like it.
I'm one of those Red Shoes fans - I love it's energy and directness, but it still has it's moments of unique Kateness, (Song of Solomon, Rubberband Girl) and some real personal emotion. OK, so perhaps it was diluted a little by the presence of luminaries such as Beck & Clapton etc, and made more main stream (possibly her most main stream of the latter recordings to date) by their inclusion, but it always sounded like Kate mixing fun with genuine sentiment to me. Too bad it's indifferent reception apparently had such a negative effect on Kate's psyche. (And yes, I most certainly agree Al, that Kate and Clapton were actually involved in a tug of war on that song, each pulling it in different directions)
I genuinely don't know what to expect from the new album. There have been huge changes in fashion & style in 13 years, and Kate herself has made the most profound life changes herself in that time - slipping graciously into middle age, rearing a child and generally swapping the energy of youth with the dignity of maturity and the infusion of experience. I hope, no expect it to be marvellous. I think that she is incapable of mediocrity..

Which one is it that has Prince on it, I know which one I think it is, but I not quite sure.
I hope the new ones like The Red Shoes (as it is one of her best) but better as taking 12 to 13 years over one album means it better be good, I'm hoping it's a wierd cross between the Hounds of Love and The Red Shoes and Lion Heart, as TRS can be a bit depressing with Big Stripey Lie and Top of the City. Also as I'm hoping for this album to have a DVD of it's videos on it as i can't get hold of any!

I'm sure EMI won't miss any tricks, and for once I'll be first in line for the spins offs..

At the moment my favourite album is 'The Dreaming,' although I didn't like it at first. I think the entire album is haunting, terrifying and exhilarating. My favourite songs from it are 'All the Love', 'Houdini', 'Night of the Swallow' and 'Get out of my house.'

Another whose favorite is The Dreaming. Ditto for the album. However, the song ("The Dreaming") is lower on my rotation now due to burn-out issues. It will climb back in time - as they all do.

The Dreaming of course - don't ask me to pick a track, but probably side 2.
No, side 1.
No, side 2 definitely.
