Lyrics to Kimiad (Adieu):
Ma c'halon a zo frailhet, dre nerzh ma enkrezioù
Ma daoulagad entanet n'o deus mui a zaeloù
Deut eo, siwazh ! an devezh ma rankan dilezel
ma rankan dilezel
Lec'h kaer ma bugaleaj, ma bro, kaer Breiz-Izel !
ma bro, kaer Breiz-Izel !
Keno dit, ma zi balan, kuzhet barzh an draonienn,
Tachenn c'hlaz war behini, bugel, e c'hoarien ;
Gwez ivin ker bodennek, e disheol ar beure
e disheol ar beure
E-pad tommder an hañvoù e kousken da greisteiz
e kousken da greisteiz
My heart is cracked by the force of my anguishes
My burning eyes no longer have tears
It came, alas, the day where I must abandon
The so beautiful place of my childhood, my country,
Low beautiful Brittany.
Good-bye, my house of genêts, hidden in the valley
Land green on which, child, I played
Ifs of my town buissonneux to the shadow of which ones,
in the morning
In the summer heat, I slept to noon.
The elusive pop singer enthuses about her Top 10 album-track choices from around the globe to Simon Broughton. And there's even a place for Rolf Harris.
Kate Bush has returned after 12 years to glowing reviews for the long-awaited Aerial album. This is ethereal and idiosyncratic with more than a touch of domesticity, as befits a 47-year-old mother. It couldn't have been written by anyone else.
Here, Bush gives her top 10 world music tracks, many of which are by musicians - from Bulgaria to Australia via Madagascar - with whom she has collaborated..
'Kimiad' by Alan Stivell: "I first heard this song through my brother correct John, who is a big fan of Alan Stivell. I love the anthemic quality of this piece and I also love the delicacy of his harp playing with his stirring voice. He appears on The Sensual World."
