I'm listening in another window right now. Good playlist, Tannis. That's because you are a multi tasker.

Is that a bad thing? I did start listening to them before you showed up.

Yes. Although I hardly know anything about it. But it's funny, I always find that when I listen to the radio, I listen to the classical music station. I'm not really sure why, but I seem to gravitate there.

I'm not really sure why, but I seem to gravitate there. I should really go to the Concert Hall here more often. The Schermerhorn Symphony is world class and only a few miles from me. I've only been a few times.

^ Thanks Al and Rosa! ... And the Martha Argerich performance is awesome... What was your favourite record of 1983? KB: "101 Damnations, by Scarlet Party." Kate's KBC article, Issue 16 gaffa.org/garden/kate18.html101 Dam Nations - Scarlet Partywww.youtube.com/watch?v=D868MSPKAfcThe Paul Gambaccini Radio Programme At the end of 1980 Paul Gambaccini, host of a BBC Radio 1 music programme, invited Kate Bush to join him for two programmes, on which she would have complete discretion as to the music playlist. For the first day's programme, broadcast on December 30, Kate provided a selection of traditional and "classical" recordings which would not ordinarily have been played on radio at all. For the second day's programme her choice included records which might be called more "popular", although most of these recordings are rarely if ever heard on radio either. During the programmes Kate's mood was noticeably relaxed. She later said that she had greatly enjoyed the chance to introduce some of her own favourites to a large audience. ^ Thanks Tannis. I enjoyed all of these - especially : Gregorio Allegri And Steely Dan I love the vibes and percussion in the Zappa number. I always enjoyed his music more than some of his lyrics and voice. I can think of two songs that fit this description - great music - inappropriate lyrics i.e., "Brown Shoes Don't Make it" and "My guitar wants to kill your Mama" I am going to add one at a time but do so more often. Han-Na Chang : www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pyaPlvae5k&feature=relatedYou may continue to the additional parts of the concerto if you wish. I just love when someone so unabashedly shares their genius and passion without inhibition...Check out "Ritual Fire Dance" in the related videos.

I enjoyed the links from both of you. It was very interesting to see a playlist that Kate had chosen, and the music that inspires and affects her.

Some more songs that mean a lot to me, if anyone's interested: Joanna Newsom - Sweet Esme or Untitledwww.youtube.com/watch?v=sL0T1yUYkbsThis is a song I often listen to when I am very happy. I think it's supposed to be a bit of a song wishing a child well in life, but it relates to all kinds of love for me. And I love the lyrics - "The phantom of love moves among us at will and each phantom limb lost has got an angel oh so confused, like the wagging ghost tail of a bulldog - kindness, kindness prevails!"That says so much to me about love in time, and the way we could lose something, lose the beauty of something in the past, long for something never possible... and yet the spirit of love will triumph anyway, and give forth kindness in to everything in the world. Kate Bush - The Sensual Worldwww.youtube.com/watch?v=AJc64xncBt4Beautiful song, and it seems to reflect both a sensual and spiritual wedding to me, a true union. Kate Bush - Sunsetwww.youtube.com/watch?v=a_QLZ-sYNzMI don't really know why, it just seems to fit. Bjork - Unisonwww.youtube.com/watch?v=9RFPueWGp7I(Al, mybe Vespertine could be less tedious for you if you associate it with me! This is a really beautiful song, I think. )
