I have been a dedicated fan of Kate for many years now and For the past twenty six years I have been the owner of Kate's tour jacket. She kindly donated it to BBC Radio London for a charity auction broadcast on 01 Dec 1979. Due to personal reasons I have decided to sell this much loved and treasured part of Kate's history and I have asked Christies Of London to include it in their Pop Memorabilia sale, which is on May 25th 2006 at 1pm. even if you cannot bid for it, you can go and view it if you want.
I really hope that it does not look like I am blowing my own trumpet here but I really want every Kate fan out there to know it's available to buy, or just view.
To view the jacket online just go to christies.co.uk website and look under COLLECTIBLES - POP MEMORABILIA - CATALOGUE - LOT41 or sale 4909. John.
Hi, all, I got to Christies just 10 mins before the start of the auction full of thoughts that this would be the last time I would see Kate's jacket. But when the two previous Kate lots failed to get bids, I realized that there might be a possibility that I might be going home with the jacket unsold. To my complete amazement the auctioneer started the bidding at £220. this was well below the reserve. There were no bids from the room or the phones and in about 20 seconds the hammer hit the bench and the auctioneer declared the item as unsold. I had the option of leaving it there for the next sale which is towards the end of the year, without extra charge, but due to the total lack of response I decided that maybe this was not best option. I guess if people did not see the catalogue or happen to hear about the sale, they were unaware that this great item was available to buy. I posted as much detail as possible on several Kate forums but sadly this was a bit late. So for now I am happily reunited with Kate's jacket and I will endeaver to find a buyer who is a true Kate fan. John.
