We went up to the top of the highest hill and stopped Still
It was just so beautiful It was just so beautiful It was just so beautiful
This is where the shadows come to play twixt the day And night Dancing and skipping Along a chink of light
Somewhere in between The waxing and the waning wave Somewhere in between What the song and silence say Somewhere in between The ticking and the tocking clock Somewhere in a dream between Sleep and waking up Somewhere in between Breathing out and breathing in Like twilight is neither night nor morning
Not one of us would dare to break The silence Oh how we have longed For something that would Make us feel so...
Somewhere in between The waxing and the waning wave Somewhere in between The night and the daylight Somewhere in between The ticking and the tocking clock Somewhere in between What the song and the silence say
Somewhere in between Breathing out and breathing in
The chorus: Goodnight sun Goodnight sun
The sun: Goodnight mum

I always find on this song that there oughtn't to have been the pause in song between along a chink of light and Somewhere in Between. I just feel like she's about to get to the climatic chorus, and then thinks, we'll just let you down slightly. I still love the song, and think it would probabley never sound like a Kate song if it followed the convention.
I also want this to be released as a single, I think the video would be great.

What? But what then will happen to Somewhere In Between and Nocturn, and Sunset, how, what? , she has to, just create the videos, the best songs, for everything are on the second part of the album.

I think that, maybe, just maybe, if "Somewhere in Between" had (in the UK) been released as a single, ahead of the album release, it may have topped the chart!

Probably would have been the best idea on main stream radio in the states. But the average music listener, who would look for it at Walmart, would confused at what they'd find on the album. Still surprised HTBI didn't get released. I received some promotional postcards recently from November, and it was listed there. Maybe I'll try to scan them and get them up here.

LEAVE IT OPEN: Bossa Nova, Baby...
In 1980, KaTe said, "I could do funk tracks on the next album, I could do classical, I could do bossa novas." Sounds like Aerial was already in mind... Kate Bush has just done the Daily Express. Now it's me...But no way does she just press her nose and gush out the conveyor-belt niceties. We talk for over 90 minutes, touching all manner of subjects in an enthusiastic flow. Quite deep at times--"It's like two psychiatrists talking," she said after... KB: "I'd really like to be able to leave myself open to any form of music, so if I wanted to, I could do funk tracks on the next album, I could do classical, I could do bossa novas. I think it's best to stay as open as you can. As a person I'm changing all the time, and the first album is very much like a diary of me at that time--I was into a very high range. The same with the second album, and I feel this is perhaps why this one is like starting again. It's like the first album on a new level. It's much more under control." ZigZag, "Fire in the Bush" 1980(?)gaffa.org/reaching/i80_zz.htmlTwo songs work even better when taken outside the context of the cycle; Somewhere In Between, despite some awkward and uninspired lyrics, is particularly inventive, like a bossa nova Coldplay, while Nocturn boasts an atmospheric groove and has 'massive hit single' written through it like a stick of rock.
