I'm in agreement with you Adey. Knowing what I know about Kate I'm sure it has happened how she wanted it to. She doesn't work for the business, she works for the art. She is appreciated more in the future than she is now.
Her talent is described by the title of the album. She tunes in to where our spirit is evolving from so inspiring not only fans and music lovers but future generations of music artists to come.

The success of "Aerial", in my opinion, can not be measured for some time to come. Whatever the outcome, it will be on the terms of Kate Bush. If she does not want to make public appearances or produce more singles and videos, then fewer people may get to enjoy her work right away. However, it occurs to me that "Aerial" will never grow stale or have limited shelf life. I would hazard to guess that in 2020 this album will sell better than the Madonna album that has just been released. There will be a discovery and an awakening by word of mouth and by a few erudite musical critics and historians that will give this work legs.

Seems that KB is fast becoming a platinum selling underground success story in this town!

I had truly wanted it to be a break though in America though. "Aerial" is possibly Kate's retirement 'annuity' It will pay her long-term regular dividends instead of a 'lump sum' windfall.

Obviously that would have been terrific. And a just reward for the effort that you US folks put into the forum here.
As I understand it, Hounds of Love did the best American business? Did Aerial manage any sort of a chart placing there?

Chart wise "RUTH" was the highest single @ #30 (I believe and #43 for "TSW" album) "HOL" was the best selling album over time along w/ "The Whole Story" But, I will have to check out how "Aerial" is doing.
edit - I believe "Aerial is near 40K units here. Over the next several years 150K would put it up with her other best U.S. album sales.

"put out the light, then put out the light. Vibes in the sky invite you to dine.."
Anyone heard Aerial in the dark yet? Freed from the distraction of visual stimuli, it's an intense experience. Not a creepy one - like listening to 9th Wave - the emotional effect is significantly ramped..

The only missed opportunity is that of the people who didnt buy the single and/ or album! In the dark and in the light this is a brilliant album, in my humble opinion.. Thank you Miss Bush

I look forward to the return of warm summer evenings, when the light is at it's most complex just as it slides into the beginnings of sunset. In my garden with Aerial on my boom box..

The CD is really selling here in Toronto... I went in a record shop the other day, and the guy said that the album was the stores best seller for two months straight...and all the customers he's spoken to about it are really in love with it... He particularly like's the 2nd CD.

I find "Aerial" absolutely beautiful! The composition is such an integrated whole - a true symphony – in many respects. I think it’s a unity of meaning and music, a unity of time – dawn and dusk, day and night, sun and stars – and a unity of the elements – sky and sea, sun, wind and rain. I especially love the voices of the birds, the cooing of the doves and - in particular - the blackbird song! Love, Susanne

How I see Aerial:
It has been said that this is the work of a happy woman, but I only feel melancholy when listening to it. Now, I am one of those that like melancholy, the problem here is the pulse of this one is at a much slower flow. I have to work real hard to get down to that pace, to listen to it in the right frame of mind. Once I’m there, though, there’s not much I can relate to. Slap me, but there’s not much of anything that makes me want to re-play it. (only three tracks on the whole album make me want to press “re-play”, all on “Sea”.) No stranger to difficult music, I recognize that it is something good, I just don’t “get” it. Something about me makes me unable to enjoy Aerial.
I may have liked Aerial a lot more, had I not discovered “Felt Mountain” by Goldfrapp at about the same time Aerial was released. The two albums have a common thread, though I have no clue as to what that might be.
That said, I have interned Aerial into my music collection, where it sits among her other albums, waiting to come around on the “shuffle-play”, or waiting for that mood to hit.

If you've got it on your Mp3 (as if you don't) or have a potable C.D. player then play it before you go to bed, actually in the bed, and it is really good. It's dark, that's all there is to concentrate of, and you're all sleepy so you drift into it, it's the best way. Obviously if you don't sleep alone then it may not be the most interesting thing you could be doing...

I look forward to the return of warm summer evenings, when the light is at it's most complex just as it slides into the beginnings of sunset. In my garden with Aerial on my boom box.. It's going to be incredible in summer. Kate does change with the seasons - "Delius" sounds amazing in the summer, when you're sitting by a pool with your feet dangling in it...In fact, I think quite a bit of "NFE" sounds better in the summer. And "Aerial" will be very much a spring/summer album, I predict. And Tabatha, doesn't 'Nocturn' sound amazing at night? I have a poster on my wall with the moon rising over the sea at night, and it's a very dark navy/black. When 'Nocturn' is playing at night I envisage myself in that poster and it's just a beautiful experience.
