Good links. I wish more videos would include the lyrics. It is a more complete experience. Ms Autumn has a Tori/PJ Harvey vibe going it seems.

Tannis, I also enjoyed the links. Emilie Autumn seems very talented, and I had never heard of her before, so thank you. And Al, I agree about videos including the lyrics - they give the music a more complete dimension, and often make me feel I can connect to the subject matter more immediately.

Emilie Autumn calls herself "Victoriandustrial" and is indeed an extremely impressive and striking talent... She was inspired by the renowned violinist Nigel Kennedy. In 2003 she would state that she "ate, slept, and breathed his recordings, much to the great and oft' noted chagrin of [her] teachers" (wiki).

Tannis, I've had an Emilie Autumn song stuck in my head all day now. I think I'll have to get ahold of one of her albums.

Joanna Newsom - Untitled New Song (Sweet Esame)www.youtube.com/watch?v=sL0T1yUYkbsA lovely live version of a song of hers that hasn't been put on an album yet. I'm really looking forward to whatever she comes up with next.

Congratulations, Adena! I hope there are more coming as well. Loreena McKennitt is wonderful. I know Al also thinks quite highly of her. Thanks for posting the link, and I'm glad you enjoyed 'Sweet Esame' as well.

Kate Bush - Breathing (Live) www.youtube.com/watchv=W_g5UtTG2z4&feature=relatedI thought this was really interesting, as it's so very different from the album version, which is maybe one of my very favorite songs. This is very pared down, and without the magnificent vocal finale and the wonderful eerie build up to it, but it's amazing the emotion that she expresses with just piano and voice.

Thanks, Rosa! I've been working on a playlist that is mainly made up of Kate Bush, Suzanne Vega and Loreena McKennitt, with a couple of other female artists tossed around. I listened to Tannis' Emilie Autumn links... They are incredibly sad and moody songs, but not bad at all. I wouldn't dare play them near my family for the moodiness. And never fear, there should be many more posts coming from me. Although I'm not sure why you want them...
