As some of you know, Joe Zawinul was one of my favorite artists/composers/muscian. While looking for upcoming tour dates, I discovered he died on Seot 11 of this year. The founder, along with Wayne Shorter, of 'Weather Report' he was a Pioneer - if not the founder - of jazz fusion. You may recall that the prominent drummer from that group, Peter Erskine, contributed to Kate's last album 'Aerial' He had just completed his European tour. He was 75.

I hadn't heard this..
A significant loss without a doubt.
And typical of music news reporting ~ we can read dozens of column inches about the latest Posh Spice breast enlargement (to want them that big and on a girl's body suggests that David has some serious issues) but nothing about the loss of seminal and important music figures if they're not chart bound.
Jazz especially it seems, will continue to be ignored..
