She's a hack - prostituting herself to keep her dream of being the new Madonna alive. Completely agree, Sven. To quote John Henson (of the John Henson Project) about Britney: "Nude up, or shut up." I actually think I was subconsciously influenced in titling this thread by your song Dan, 'cos I checked your site out again a few days ago! Did I miss this? Where's RT's website? I'd like to take a look too, since I don't remember ever seeing a link, and it isn't posted in your profile.

Completely agree, Sven. To quote John Henson (of the John Henson Project) about Britney: "Nude up, or shut As much as I can not abide Madonna; she at least has some artistry and originality about her. How sad to be the watered down version. Britney's tawdriness sullies her own image more than Madonna's nudity does conversely. Madonna is a shrewd, calculating provocatuer. Britney has yet to live up to the legend, let alone break any new ground.

Britney, Britney, Britney..
I'm guessing that it's actually quite tough to be in her position. Don't get me wrong, I'll have no truck with manufactured artists and their predictable pap, but how difficult it must be to even attempt to be seen as a serious artist when you've started your career aimed at the preteen/early teen market, and are a youngster yourself.
What do you do? Turn your back on what audience you have? Shock and offend them with a new raunchy image implying a sexuality that the younger audience should not be exposed to? But you've got to try and develop as an artist right?
As I say, difficult..
As for Madonna, well I have to agree with both Xan and Sven. Clearly she has an artistry of sorts and IS a brilliant provocateur, despite my dislike of her material. As a pop icon and trend setter you have to admire her I guess. Ditto for the maximum return on what was originally a very minor talent. Clever woman..

Britney, Britney, Britney.. I'm guessing that it's actually quite tough to be in her position.... Poor little Brit. Seriously, it must be difficult. However, her parents must share some blame here. Surely they knew her talent was limited. Her real gift is her drive and energy. But it was her descision to go the 'School Girl tease' route in her early video. A calculated move that proved successful; but indicative of poor parenting. What kind of parents allow children to mimic adults for a shot at fame? Those that enter little girls in 'beauty contests', take them to endless auditions or worst of all let them spend the night with Michael Jackson, are doing nothing less than selling these kids for some vicarious chance at stardom or an easy payday.

Too true. Didn't you guys in the States have a cause celebre some time ago, with a very young beauty queen, kidnapped from her bed and later murdered? Bobby Rebitt or something like that I seem to recall? " Never invest your own dreams in your children " seems like good advice to me

A botched murder investigation that had her parents as suspects. The case is still unsolved. It did bring attention, though, on this horrid practice of pre-teen beauty contests and the lifestyle that surrounds it.
