I've been listening to my brand new Danny Elfman CD. He's my favorite orchestra conductor/soundtrack artist. I'm presently hooked on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Some of his earlier works consist of Evil Dead 3 (theme), The Nightmare before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, and Sleepy Hollow.

I also have heard good reviews of the latest Burton film. any comments on it?

Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is based on the book by Roald Dahl. The classic name, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory doesn't appeal to me as well as the newer title for obvious reasons. However, I think both are fun and entertaining. Johnny Depp puts a spin on this movie and makes it his own chocolatier version. Even though every tooth in his head is capped for the filming, I still think he is provocatively hot... (love that maroon colored suit with tails and a top hat he wears.) I have never seen a movie that Tim Burton has produced that I can walk out of a theatre and critically state... that was awful. Well, alright, I admit... Mars Attacks was a bit puerile. The little aliens were funny, but it didn't get high marks rewarded inside my mind's award ceremony.
But flipping back over to my rambling post, I think this particular Chocolate Factory movie presents a moral lesson to be learned the closer it gets to the ending credits. It happens to be far more blatant than the older version. I even shed tears. I won't tell you what happens... I would spoil it!

I'm stuck with one radio station (something is wrong with my cd player ) But they seem to be playing music that is keeping me relatively sane. They are playing "Pictures of Matchstick Men" killer! Who is this by I hope they say. I want to say Slade. Am I right? I want to get into more late 60's music. Oh I was hoping they'd say but now they are playing "Happiness is a Warm Gun"! (the irony that instilled from this song. ) I don't even miss my cd player tonight!

laurie anderson - from the air
what a great track, the lyrics are the best: "Good evening. This is your Captain. We are about to attempt a crash landing. Please extinuish all cigarettes. Place your tray tables in their upright, locked position. Your Captain says: Put your head on your knees. Your Captain says: Put your head on your hands. Captain says: Put your hands on your head. Put your hands on your hips. Heh heh. This is your Captain-and we are going down. We are all going down, together. And I said: Uh oh. This is gonna be some day. Standby. This is the time. And this is the record of the time. This is the time. And this is the record of the time. Uh-this is your Captain again. You know, I've got a funny feeling I've seen this all before. Why? Cause I'm a caveman. Why? Cause I've got eyes in the back of my head. Why? It's the heat. Standby. This is the time. And this is the record of the time. This is the time. And this is the record of the time. Put your hands over your eyes. Jump out of the plane. There is no pilot. You are not alone. Standby. This is the time. And this is the record of the time. This is the time. And this is the record of the time."
