I keep waiting for this thread to reach 30 pages, until I remember it's the wrong forum for me to lock and move it. Doh! Is that something one of the mods should do? If so why/ It was something they would do in the past at this other forum I help with. It was because when I thread got too much it would crash and stuff would get lost and clogged, so they put a thirty page limit on it. this was on the old Proboard version 3, but they still stick to the 30 page lock and move rule.

Joanna Newsom - Ys album Here is an abbrreviated youtube clip of Joanna playing here last month. www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKG0fgKiVV4 The clip is shot at a bad angle, but anyway... EDIT: oops, that's a clip from some place called Manchester or whatever... but since it's a much better shot I'll leave it. Here's one from Houston: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQtzOFFRuiI

My pleasure, Al - I enjoy it.
I'm currently listening to Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but, as a result of a mention by Margot I've just listened to four tracks of Larkin Grimm. We-yell... it's a mixed-bag with my quite enjoying Pigeon Food, playing a bit with my cat during Entrance and Baptism, and managing to outlast Future Friend.
An interesting artist though I'd much prefer there to be a bit more beat to the music.
The act I was most reminded of, and which I noticed being among the mentions on the site, is The Microphones - another "almost there" artist for me.
Are there many more Pigeon Foods in Larkin's repertoire?
EDIT: Oh wait, I should mention that her voice, and the manipulation of it, is something to hear.

I have exactly the same problem with The Microphones. I have their album 'It was hot, we stayed in the water', and although It's really good, I just...I don't know...I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with it. I can never really decide how I feel about it. The same goes for a band called Six Organs of Admittance...

Yeah, I've heard the Microphones' It was Hot... and it's something that while I like to hear it every so often I certainly prefer it off the menu more often than not. Here is someone who is associated with the Microphones, and while there is an experimental aspect to the music, as would be expected from such an association, there's also plenty of beat, and singing sugar sweet, alongside it: Mirah. oh gosh Six Organs... that's a band I've been meaning to listen to but having just now checked my music profile I realize I haven't yet heard them. EDIT: For the record, currently listening to: Of Montreal - Satanic Panic in the Attic.

The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is being revisited. and another from the same era, Automatic Man. Hi everyone, I haven't posted lately because I moved to Bakersfield. Which is why I haven't heard anything new. But that's gonna change. Still listen to Ariel.

Bakersfield... the home of Buck Owens, right? It's not far from LA, is it? I was listening to an LA band earlier today - X.
Currently listening to: The Moldy Peaches - These Burgers.

Very good. The home of the "Buck Owens Sound." Also, Merle Haggard. They are going to name a street after him (after he pays for it); they've already done that for Buck. Anyway, not too far from LA which I'm very familiar with and plan to seek out new sounds soon.

Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile (Right)
I can't get too enthused by it though at times it's interesting... ehh it's at least good to hear just to have heard it.
