I'm not sure how many of you's were/are into video games, but I just thought we could have some Blasts From The Past with the oldies... the old games you remember and loved. My all time favourite as a kid was Dizzy. I had them all. Though that was for the Commodore 64. The games were on cassette and took about 15 minutes to load, LoL (no exaggeration) I also used to love Paperboy. Then more recently (but not too much more) was Monkey Island (Amiga 1200). I always said it was like a deeper, and slightly more mature version of Dizzy. I loved that too, but don't know how anyone could ever complete it without getting the soloution from the internet. And finally there was Theme Park also for the Amiga 1200. But I got Roller Coaster Tycoon a few years ago for the PC which is 100 times better Come on, I bet you've all got loads to mention

I didn't play a computer game until I bought my first Game Boy Advance, about 3 years ago. I don't know about any retro games at all, other than those released on earlier Nintendo platforms and polished up for the GBA. I guess that includes all the damned infernal Mario games..
Actually, thinking about it, I do recall playing Space Invaders on arcade style machines located in pubs throughout the early 1980s.. I remember how impressed everyone was with that game - it was everywhere.
I also remember a lot of my friends playing Doom on their PC's. I later bought it as a GBA title and had a lot of fun with it..
The very 1st game I ever saw was ping-pong, in black and white. Very primitive - 2 bats (big blips) and one ball (small blip) played across a grid of 4 lines. It was a seperate machine you had to plug into your TV. It was utterly crap, but we were impressed at the time. Video Games have come a long way very quickly it seems!

Does the handheld Nintendo's now copy the old Nintendo games in full? Can you get Super Mario Bro's 3, the one where you move around on the map. I used to love that... I had it for the first ever Nintendo, LoL ;D And I also remember playing ping-pong on my friends Atari when I was little. It was actually one of the games on one of my old mobiles

there was once a very fun game called prehistoric which i really liked to play. another oldie game that i really loved was the quest simon the sorcerer, it is a very though provoking game and witty that you could sit hours playing it. i'm sad that quest games aren't made anymore. it seems that now it's all about the graphics and not necessarily the contents

Ooooh speaking of quest games, that jogs my memory. Anyone remember Wonder Boy? Possibly the most basic ever quest game, LoL ;D I used to love it What systems were these games on Mat?

Not sure about the games (my mind draws a blank) but you definitely could not beat the Atari 2600 and the Spectrum 48K (later the 128K) for retro gaming. And Lori, 15 mins to load was quite fast! And of course, there was the original Gameboy, which had one of the best games I've ever played, and that was Supermarioland and Tetris, both of which I managed to complete. Something I don't usually do. Tetris on the highest setting, too! I remember playing a game on the Speccie called Trashman, or thereabouts. Kinda like Paperboy but you went around collecting rubbish instead. sounds ludicrous, but it was actually a good laugh. And bloody difficult too I haven't really played video games that much this last 12 or so months. I kinda go through phases were I'll play my PS2 constantly, then it'll just sit gathering dust. I should dust it off one day. I'd like oneday to purchase the new Metal Gear Solid game, as I enjoyed the previous 2 Playstation outings (Never seen the original Nintendo releases) and I'm kinda looking forward to the PS2 port of Resident Evil 4. (I'm a big fan of RE's 1, 2, & 3. But not so much the Shoot 'em Uppy releases, and I haven't played the non-PS2 releases except Code: Veronica. Which was good, but didn't have the same atmosphere as the original 3 games. Ok, I'm rambling.

Not sure about the games (my mind draws a blank) but you definitely could not beat the Atari 2600 Would you believe the the only video games I own are 2 Atari 2600's in working condition with all joysticks and over 30 games? I guess they are worth quite a bit of money now. My faves are Enduro, Phoenix, and Warlords. When I was in high school I used to play Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Sega... but that's where I stopped. I completed all the Marios, Sonics, and Zeldas... but I do still get the itch for a good game of F-Zero or Tetris. My new time killer (usually in-line somewhere, since I am terribly impatient) is the sample verison of Bejewelled on my cell. I might just have to download that one. But, suppose if I really want to play a mean game with someone... we usually place high stakes bets on our new James Bond and TCM versions of Scene It. Those games are addictive.

I'm a sucker for a good racing simulator. Usually the Grand Turismo and Toca Touring Car games. I don't really like the arcade type racers such as Need For Speed etc.

My first computer game was Robot Attack, monochrome screens, resolution of about well pebble sized blocks. The computer was a cloned TRS 80 with the amazing amount of 48K internal memory (16 of them were immediately reserved for screen memory) and a cassette recorder for I/O (it had a joystick though), Z80 processor on 4 Mhz.... but it really said "ROBOT ATTACK" after the game was loaded (shock, horror... the computer spoke! ). I feel like I am talking about systems from the stone age!

Supermarioland and Tetris, both of which I managed to complete. Something I don't usually do. Tetris on the highest setting, too! I didn't think Tetris was completable (that's soo not a word is it ;D ). Or was it B-Type where you go backwards from 25 lines, level 9, 5 high??

Oh, my - I remember Robot Attack (I had a friend who had a TRS-80). I also used to love those old text adventure games. In fact, I still do!
