Entirely with you..
Dealing with spyware/adware whatever you to call it, is a nightmare at times, and it just about finished off my old PC. All I can say is thank God for Spybot and it's a free download too.
I still recall getting hit by a rogue dialler (along with 1000s of others it seems) that cost me over a £100 on premium rate calls to gambling & porn sites. And I got off light.. Anyone here, do yourselves a favour and get your your telecom service to put a block on International calls - it's worth the minor inconvenience.
For all of it's sophistication, the Windows operating system still has a long way to go. Perhaps it will never get there, given the similar sophistication of a***holes who sneak these damn things into our registries. I rate spyware as a bigger menace than viruses..

Excellent GM23. A superb resource - I really can recommend Spybot, which you can keep upto date on the net for free.

Please use this thread for any complaint about the 'way it is'. You may also refer your responses from any thread to here if you want to go off subject. However, dirty laundry must be confined to the password protected board "Experiment IV" You must have 150 or more posts to enter. If you have less than 150 posts, we just can't be bothered with your opinion yet. ;D

Those already in are not going to be excluded. It is as secret there as you want to make it. Being silly or posting as an alter ego there, keeps the main board more respectable. Also, any disagreements that we don't want publicly aired can be worked out there in private. But, as you can attest, we don't, as of yet, have any big secrets or problems. But when or if we do, there's a way to handle it. BTW the 150 post minimum is to factor when newbies post one word or very short posts. We want entry there by people who tend to stay and be a part of our community.

Sssh Mat!
The rule for EXIV is the same as for "Fight Club" - you should never talk about it. Now we're going to have to kill you..

People who seem to think that because I'm not sixteen yet, I'll have a nervous breakdown the minute I leave home because I don't realise how much I depend on my mother. Of course, they'll be happy for me to move out as soon as the birthday party's finished. I'm already completely independent and caring for another, so why can't I do it outside of my family home?

Adena, with your love of poetry, verse and words, you really should think about university. Then you can leave home and strengthen your independence within an academic surround!

...rant, rant, rant some more
People that lie and deceive really bother me. And while I can extend forgiveness and grace, how do you hold someone accountable for madness and obsession. And do you just let them ruin your life and your reputation?...And they don't even know or maybe don't even care abourt the consequences of their actions

People who have to disagree with me about everything because I'm not 'one of them'. They have no idea where to draw the line.

I have no idea how some people think that they can get away with actively attempting to destroy the reputation of others on the basis of manipulative and untrue suggestions about their character - usually coming from people who do not even know the person they are talking about well enough to make any kind of reliable judgement let alone a character-destroying scathing review of what sort of person they are. Society's norms often mean that one person is believed automatically by virtue of their position...

Society's norms often mean that one person is believed automatically by virtue of their position... This is true, yes. In general person in some sort of authority will be believed automatically over the person they are in authority over, regardless of which person is actually in the right. However, when a group of 'equals' is split by the actions and words of one of the group, which in turn pulls in and divides their superiors, this generality is not the case, and the most important factor in who believes what becomes personal belief and prejudice over position and authority. And when the divide in beliefs split a group directly down the middle, coming to some sort of amicable resolution is near enough impossible. It's easiest to ignore it all. I find that when a split is caused, it's usually not right down the middle. One side will end up being prevalent, either because it has more believers already or more believers in a position of authority. The sheep will join the side that can herd them the best. I agree, though - staying out of it is best if you can. If I must, I will make a decision based on what I believe.

I think a lot of people will go along with what their 'friends' are saying just because it is the easiest option, whether they believe what is being said or not. In fact, having been involved in a situation like what I described above and spoken to a couple of people who were on one side on the surface, I discovered that in their beliefs they were on the opposite side to the one they appeared to be supporting. People are strange creatures... Arguments are inevitable with the broad spectrum of beliefs in this world. Duplicity and ignorance are the things that I can't stand.
