After aiding Sven with assisted suicide, I thought I would take this thread and run with it.
How often do we use analogy or symbols to better understand a larger priciple. Yin and Yang, Fountain of Youth, the sign for infinity to name a few. Can some of you site one of these, or your own, and show what is analogous on small level with a greater truth on a large scale. Please elaborate...or else. ;D

OK, I know you guys are just lining up to respond here. ;D , so I'll start it off.
Dustdevils -
An innocent whirling phenomenon that delighted us as children. I will use this analogy to, obviously, to describe toronado's and hurricanes. However, as these dynamic cycles become larger the contrast between peace and fury exponentially increases. The peaceful stagnant eye of the storm is surrounded by tumult and destruction. The calm before this storm is analogous to ignorance or at least futility. As we rachet up this anology we see our solar system and universe unfold. The swirling and expanding cosmos captivates and confounds us. But remember the dustdevil. Can it be that simple?
At the center of everything is peace - birth and renewal. Outside of this peace there is discordance - death and decay. Stay atuned and seek peace. Stay centered.

OK, I know you guys are just lining up to respond here. ;D , so I'll start it off. I'd like to, really. I need a little more to go on. Are these accepted icons or turns of phrase, or one's we have made up? For example, I just used to describe how to handle a sticky situation at work as "your cat's on the roof." Do you remember that joke? Anyway, or how about "the calm before the storm" for the quiet tension that builds before a confrontation? Am I off base here? And, by the way... you've been very spiritual as of late, or since your return. Why do you suppose that is? No problem, just curious (and I hope you weren't born again ;D)

I'd like to, really. I need a little more to go on. Are these accepted icons or turns of phrase, or one's we have made up? Yes. No.I've been more contemplative and refective since my life has changed in so many ways. Also all the politics and hysteria about terror and right-wing fundamentalism has me searching for answers. God forbid! No. I was afraid you would think that. I want a spirtual answer to the ''born agains'' vs the Middle-eastern zealots. I think my way way is a better way.
ps sorry about being glib. I just want to encourage thought and conversation.
