I think this song is so hilarious because you're really not expecting sweet little Kate to sing the things (or imply the things) that she does. It's a brilliant song, I love Rowan Atkinson. "Mr Bean", "The Thin Blue Line", "Blackadder" - I love them all!
I'd love Kate to do another song like this for Comic Relief - I'm sure she still has her sense of humour intact!

If bears do, and no one is there, does it still smell?

I've never seen the film footage of Do Bears, but I have the song on the comic relief LP. It also features a piano only version of Breathing which is a refreshing change from the original.

If bears do, and no one is there, does it still smell? that question is actually very zen

Indeed - very Zen.
Let's all give it a one handed round of applause everyone..

What's the sound of applause if nobody is there to receive it?

Merely the sound of one hand clapping of course.. Oh, and I think the song is rubbish by the way. A waste of 2 exceptional talents in Bush & Atkinson. Sorry. I'm sure Kate would have composed something better.

Oh, without doubt they would both do better. Probably this was conceived 3 or 2 days before the actual performance so it had to be done fast (might even be that the artists were not known at the time of writing). You have to keep in mind why this was done: for charity.
Lori: is the video online somewhere?

Personally, I think it's Kate's best duet.
"I charged him a fortune for a flying..." "For crying out loud!"
Now THAT'S funny!

From a humour point of view I totally agree, from artistic point of view not so.

Ah, but bear (ha!) in mind the song is supposed to be (musically) bad ON PURPOSE. Rowan is doing a parody of a bad lounge singer - that's the whole point!

And Mrs. Bush is doing her part of a machavellian girl: looking for millionairs, finding him and milking him like a dairy farm (financially as well as well... erm 'for crying out loud' ). I think this is a brilliant song from most perspectives.
