Well not all the other ProBoards were online. Servers 1,4, and 6 were down all day. I think it may have been an upgrade. Before this should happen again, you guys keep a copy of this URL: www.proboards.com/index.htmlGo to "Forums" and then 'News'. There you will see the status of boards off line and updates.

I do indeed believe we now have a better and faster server. We can (or may ) also now say 'f*ck' or 'damn' without being censored. FYI I don't plan to start throwing around expletives, but it's nice to know we have freeddom to express things in the words we chose. Also I hope the rest of you will show restraint and good taste. * I have gone back to edit here at my own discretion. Even though I can now use the word without censorship, it still violates the terms that Proboards has set. However we can now say 'Hitchcock" (e.g.) without it coming out "Hitch thingy"

Over here in England, the word damn has never been a particularly offensive word. but obviously in parts of the states this word is considered a no no.

Just reading through some old posts and I've noticed that the word 'F***' has been censored again.
Btw, the censored words can be removed from the list Lori, they are optional and have no bearing on any of the Proboards TOS's.
But that's none of my business and is entirely in your control. Just thought I'd mention it.

Another question.
If all the expletives can be removed from the censored words list, how can the use of such language be a violation of the TOS's? Not that I intend to use any bad language. (maybe in extremely rare occasions, and in ways in which it can be justified in context.)
I bet we all swear like troopers in reality.
I Do. ;D

I have no problem with the F word. However, I'd prefer not to risk being shut down on your word alone. I'll ask you to edit the post until the terms are clarified. From what I've read, obscenity is a violation that can get you booted. F*ck gets the same message out if you need to be graphic. This is a free board, so they make the rules. The filters are much better than they used to be (they were in fact silly) So paul, and others please don't jeopordize my input here, for no good reason.

No problem Al, consider it done.

Maybe Lori should check the censored word list?
The only way that expletives come up uncensored is if the list has been deleted. Maybe this happened during the server downtime? If this is the case maybe it should be adjusted?
Al, I think you should have access to this function on the admin page, I think it would be worth checking.

Thanks! I don't want to hamper anyone's creativety; but let's have some guidelines.

I don't see any harm in censoring 'f***', we have no real need to use it and it can be replaced with plenty others
