I have to watch my sarcasm as well. It just comes so naturally. Kate hates it she says, but I'll bet she can appreciate the well-crafted, non-self-aggrandising form utilzed here. Right?

.....AT, its going to take me a while to get my head around your monetary theory. Its either brilliant, or it confirms my own theory that too much analysis reveals things the artist never intended! Perhaps maybe a bit of both. Of course I'd like to think that it's brilliant ; however, I don't believe Kate would ever imagine that we'd know what she means exactly. She would find it fascinating, I would think, to see the myriad of directions the lyrics take with her fans, If she intended to make a definative statement, she would have written a book. The beauty and art of the song is what we see and feel in it. (To me, anyway ) See it doesn't matter which politician/s she may be refering to, for my theory to work. The Nixon (crook), Reagan (actor), conservative swing etc. could also be in play here. Worth discussing more?.....

::: flash of inspiration ::: My mention of a conservative "swing" just caused a bell to chime in my head. (mmm...chocolate covered bells...) aids.hallym.ac.kr/d/ani/homer.gif[/img] Sorry Anyway, in the video why is the pendulum swinging back and forth while the actors wait impatiently. Is this a conservative and liberal back and forth. Is this what they are "waiting" for? Shoot this down if you've got a better explanation. That has always befuddled me 'til now.

Smart ass? Isn't that another description for a Donkey with an strong educational upbringing? LOL ;D ;D Hey, and Paul... you could use an emoticon or two. I don't really like them, they're a little silly. But they seem to be terribly necessary. If, of course, you were trying to be funny.

I think we may be scaring the guests away rather than attracting them.
I'm taking some medication but it's giving me a few problems.
I can make my left testicle play the banjo.

I can make my left testicle play the banjo. Some folks would give their left one to do so.

I've lost the plot.

any way.......
back to the video. I think the pendulum is just a reference to the fact that they are waiting for the safe to blow. and the pendulum suggests that time doesn't seem to going very fast. hence "we're waiting"
time is dragging.

Naw. Al's right for once. The pendulum is to big and prominent not to be some sort of symbol. Kate has used "Pendulum" before. "Oh To Be In Love" contains the reference as well. It does have to do with time. But in "Tenner" I can see the left and right swing making sense. That is common political imagery.
