I see the people working And see it working for them And so I want to join in But then I find it hurts me
Some say that knowledge is something sat in your lap Some say that knowledge is something that you never have
I see the people happy So can it happen for me? 'Cause when I am unhappy There's nothing that can move me
Some say that knowledge is something that you never have Some say that knowledge is something sat in your lap Some say that heaven is hell Some say that hell is heaven
I must admit, just when I think I'm king (I just begin) Just when I think I'm king, I must admit (I just begin) Just when I think I'm king (I just begin)
I've been doing it for years My goal is moving near It says, "Look! I'm over here" Then it up and disappears
Some say that knowledge is something sat in your lap Some say that knowledge is ho-ho-ho-ho
I want to be a lawyer I want to be a scholar But I really can't be bothered Ooh, just gimme it quick, gimme it, gimme gimme gimme gimme!
Some say that knowledge is ho ho ho Some say that knowledge is ho ho ho Some say that heaven is hell Some say that hell is heaven
I must admit, just when I think I'm king (I just begin) Just when I think I'm king, I must admit (I just begin) Just when I think everything's going great (I just begin) Hey, I get the break Hey, I'm gonna take it all (I just begin) When I'm king (Just begin)
In my dome of ivory A home of activity I want the answers quickly But I don't have no energy
I hold a cup of wisdom But there is nothing within My cup, she never overfloweth And 'tis I that moan- and groaneth
Some grey and white matter "Give me the karma, mama!" I'm coming up the ladder "A jet to Mecca" I'm coming up the ladder "Tibet or Jeddah Up the ladder... "To Salisbury A monastery The longest journey Across the desert Across the weather Across the elements Across the water!"

"By means of shrewd lies, unremittingly repeated, it is possible to make people believe that heaven is hell -- and hell is heaven. The greater the lie, the more readily it will be believed." ~Adolf Hitler ~ Found this just a moment ago. Thought I'd post it here.

It, I believe, is the anti-thesis of 'Sat in your Lap" but connected in a perverse way.

That IS a frightening concept. Good find, Paul. I've got the heebie jeebies now. (first worms now heebie jeebies. I need anti-biotics I think ;D) Does this mean we can connect Sat In your Lap to Heads We're Dancing? Or should we not even go there.

I had exactly the same thought about connecting the two songs myself Sheila. I suppose I could see what the two sound like when played together? Could be interesting.

Did I only post the original reply in this thread only a few weeks ago? It seemed to be longer than that. Oh well.

Maybe it would link up to the Wizard of OZ! ;D That would be just too surreal to even contemplate.

More of the brilliance of MS. KATE BUSH'S lyrics!
I recall vividly when I put the needle on my LP copy of "SAT IN YOUR LAP", as I had only ever heard my friends' copies, each of which skipped in the same spot during the drum introduction.
When I saw the videoclip, I thought I'd gone mad for a second, as its imagery was so utterly different from what had been evoked in my own mind by the verses.

This song is just one of the reasons I consider Kate Bush to be one of the greatest, most talented and unique singer/songwriters ever.

May i just say, I have no idea what this song is about. Then enjoy it for the vibe you get. Without claiming to know exactly what message she was trying to impart; the mystery and nature of our perspective and awareness is what it means to me. Is knowledge a gift (Sat in your lap) or is it something you will never have? Just when you think you know everything you need to know (become 'king') - you'd actually have to start over (just begin) Because a wise person will discover that you can never have it all. And, depending or your perspective knowledge could be a blessing (heaven) or a curse (hell) - 'Be it care free abandon or resposibility and guilt. 'Just my take.

'Haven't seen a post from MX since his untimely death. It was chilling to read this one on the subject matter. I wonder what he knows about things now. May he Rest In Peace.

At the risk of going all mystical, I wonder what happened to all of that positive MX/Kate Bush energy? "Where will it go, surely not with his soul.."
