Very interesting, Neo. I'd like to hear more about your book, actually- maybe you could pm me, so it wouldn't bother Al.

Al is a lovely person, I just got the feeling he wasn't eager for us to be discussing your book. I'd love to hear more about it, though.

Al's not that bad, he just looks out for the integrity of this forum and I commend him for that. Thanks. I only object when it is close to spam or it gets too personal. In the context of a book - fine... But here, I believe it may be inappropriate to reference personal encounters, both real and fictitious, with Kate. And moderation is always appreciated when discussing the content. And Doug - after these past 5 years or so, I hope you finally get it done.

Indian Mythology: The Great Gods Of The Plains"The white man speaks of a Heavenly Father; we say Tirawa-atius, the Father above, but we do not think of Tirawa as a person. We think of Tirawa as in everything, as the Power which has arranged and thrown down from above everything that man needs. What the power above, Tirawa-atius, is like, no one knows; no one has been there."TIRAWA-ATIUS (Pawnee): The Power Above, creator of the heavens and the earth. Known to us as the Milky Way, Tirawa Atius created the Path of the Departing Spirits. East of that is the Male Principle/Morning Star, and to the west is the Female Principle/Evening Star. Lord Tirawa preordained everything that has happened and will ever happen, and his servants are the stars. In the beginning Tirawa-Atius called the gods together to announce his plan to create the human race and promised the gods a share of power for their help. Shakura the Sun was assigned to provide light and heat, Pah the Moon was assigned the night, and Tirwara-Atius placed the Evening Star in the west. The Morning Star he set to guard the east. The Morning Star pursued the Evening Star from east to west, but she stayed away from him, giving him 10 tests to find out his character, but continued to beckon him. She was flirting and teasing because that's what women do. The chaos beneath them was asylum to one of these tests that Evening Star put forth to Morning Star. A large serpent guarded the huge collection of water that lay below the stars. Morning Star launched a ball of fire at the serpent, and in so doing dried up enough water to reveal rocks and soil. Morning Star then took a pebble and threw it into the sea of chaos and it became the earth. After the gods had raised dry land from the watery chaos, Tirawa Atius told Sun and Moon to make love, and they gave birth to a son. He then told Evening and Morning Star to make love, and they gave birth to a daughter. So the human race was made. In the intermediate heavens, below Sun and Moon, yet above man's reach, are the bird messengers, with the Eagle at their head, each with its special wisdom and guidance. Here, too, dwell the Visions which descend to the dreamer, giving him revelations direct from the higher powers; and here the dread Thunder wings his stormy course. see more [purple]North American Indian Mythology[/purple] at:library.thinkquest.org/29064/summaries/pawnee.htmlusers.aol.com/purging/ptp2/northame.htmwww.oldandsold.com/articles26/indian-mythology-25.shtml

Indian Mythology: The Great Gods Of The Plains Thanks tannis, I love mythology of all kinds! I like the idea of the human race being the offspring of a union of the Sun and the Moon, and the Morning and Evening Stars. I guess it's up to us newbies to help keep this site ticking for a while. --Paul--

I enjoyed the story as well, but forgot to comment on it a while back... As for newbies keeping the site ticking- well, your arrival has certainly increased our activity. :)Although I don't think Tannis and I could really be considered newbies anymore, and we're posting frequently. And of course Al is here as well.. and Neo, and Adey, who I hope will stick around. Gosh, we're actually quite busy, aren't we? ;D
