The featured artist this week is said to sound like the daughter of Kate Bush and Bjork. The links are few, but you may look around at each site if you wish. You'll need ''Quicktime'' and/or a ''Windows Media Player'' (free downloads are available at each link ) Let me know what you think: Kate Bush in a live performance of ''Violin" : [ftp]http://www.white-man-killer.com/kate/RealKate/RealKate01.html[/ftp] Bjork in the Video ''Isobel" [ftp]http://www.bjork.com/videogallery/watch.php?video=7,size=medium[/ftp] Finally, the french artist Emilie Simon who claims influence from Kate Bush and whose musical approach seems more like that of Bjork. You decide in this mp3 titled "Flowers" : [ftp]http://www.emiliesimon.com/mp3/FlowersMarkus_Short.mp3[/ftp] here's her website: www.emiliesimon.com/ps also check out this artist whom I've just discovered on another Kate Forum. I love everything I've heard of her's to date. Pure delite and true genius! - Please listen to Gabriela Kulka in this mp3 titled ''Some Things Are Better'': www.cdbaby.com/mp3lofi/kulka-04.m3u

Cheers AT, you find some good stuff.. Violin - Whats to say? Totally barking mad of course, but huge fun. I missed Simon Drake miming the violin, but otherwise much as I remember it from the show and on the Hammersmith video. Her apparent enjoyment of the song is infectious and it draws you in despite the pantomime quality of the thing. To think that Kate was once this demonstrative and apparently uninhibited. A long, long time ago.. I enjoyed the Emilie Simon piece. I agree more Bjork than Bush, but KB's influence is worn clearly on her sleeve, and she doesn't sound as glassy as Bjork frequently does. Nicely rhythmic and a fine groove. I can't comment on Isobel - don't have realtime and won't download it off the net (probably all sorts of Ad/Spyware buried in it..)

Thanks Adey. Don't be afraid of the free players. Just scan them with your anti-virus software first. Besides, the Bjork videos play in 'Quicktime', not 'RealPlayer' I enjoyed the links that I posted very much. Ms Simon is indeed talented. Also, I've found someone else (please go back and download the mp3 I've linked) that I'm truly enamored with. Tell me what you think about Ms Kulka.

Tell me what you think about Ms Kulka. Now that was a delightful 2 minutes! You've called this thread "Love Child" and in this case that's particularly apt. To these ears, Kulka's piece is a real synthesis of Kate and an early period Tori Amoss. At first I thought I was listening to something you might find in modern musical theatre - a confessional monologue type of thing, with it's stacatto angular delivery. But further listens reveal it's true nature - excellent..

At first I thought I was listening to something you might find in modern musical theatre - I got the same vibe. With your theatre background I thought you might agree, and almost pointed it out. There are more samples and whole songs here: artists.iuma.com/IUMA/Bands/Gabriela_Kulka/She does a melacholy cover of Kate's ''Top of the City" But, I found her original material much more accessible. (you may agree provided you have a prerequiste weird streak) ''Tonight I Will" was particularly moving. Therein her classical training in violin and voice is evident. I will add her link soon to the ''Linkin Park'' board.
