Anyone watch those animated Christmas specials? Santa Claus Is Coming to Town(narrated by Fred Astaire) Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer(Burle Ives) The Little Drummer Boy(the wonderful Greer Garson) The Year Without a Santa Claus(Shirley Booth) Most definitely! ;D I just love how the stop-animation people actually look quite like Fred Astaire, Burl Ives, etc. As a child, I just couldn't deal with how sad the Island of Misfit Toys is in Rudolph. Anyone else? Or how about Frosty? I think I can cope a little better now. What are some of your other favorite holiday films, theatrical or television specials?

I just heard Vince Garauldi's"Linus and Lucy" from "A Charlie Brown Christmas" I had forgotten how entertaining that piece is. Do you guys think that cartoons and commercials have replaced some other Christmas traditions such as stories and books?

I'll post about your questions soon, but I wanted to give you the information I found. I do have an instrumental version of "The Holly & The Ivy" (I also have an excellent version by Roger Whittaker) on An Old English Christmas. I bought it at a holiday shop a few years ago, but I found a link where you can listen and purchase. www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?p=1013824&item_no=CD5088Don't be hesitant about it's bargain price, since it's really an excellent CD. I hope it's something like you were looking for. There is also an Irish CD from the same company, I believe, and both shuffle well with the Loreena McKennitt.

I realize that Christmas is a magical time, and the music should be magical too. But I was wondering what you all thought of funny Christmas songs. Are they breaking something sacred? I realize it depends on the song, but I was just wondering the general thoughts on this...
And HEY! I resemble that Muppets remark!

Does the Blue text have a 3-D effect to anyone else but me? That must be your favorite Christmas color Sheila. Right? I've neve really gotten into "Grandama Got Run Over By A Reindeer" or any of the other funny Holoday songs. Anybody else?
