As the Holidays approach- Halloween, Thanksgiving (US) Christmas (Hannukah or Kwanzaa it applies) let's reflect on what this means. In October let's harvest an abundance of fear, paranoia, and angst. November will bring healing and thanks-giving and December will be magic again. But for now enjoy these 10 Kate songs: 1. "Get Out of My House" 2. "Hammer Horror" 3. "Mother Stands for Comfort" 4-10 The entire "Ninth Wave" (ALL of side 2 of "Hounds of Love") If you would like to add a suggested track by another artist, please include a link. The comments and discussion, I hope, will include what these songs mean to each of us. By comparing our thoughts, perhaps we will have a better insight into their intended meanings.

Don't get upset, Al. Still trying to work on something for the last one. But just to kick off here, I have posted some thoughts on GOOMH over at Deeper Understanding, referring to The Shining, Alien and The Two Magicians (Al, please consider that post as a post here as well, since I was moved to finally post one of them because of your topic here). I believe in the songs you have mentioned here, Kate uses the idea of terror/horror to embody the same fear her characters have in HOL or RUTH. In that sense "It's in the trees, it's coming..." can be the same irrational fears that she has in GOOMH and Hammer Horror. I'll also add some links to other "creepy" tunes to include here!

Thanks Zan. I've read your posts on the 'Deeper Understanding' board. It won't be long 'til I'll be engaging in a discussion with you there. Also, I agree, that would be the best place to discuss the in depth meanings of these songs. But observations and common ideas are up for interpretation here.
What I also want to delve into here are the concepts of the theme. i.e. The season and all it embodies. (I look forward to your, and anyone else's, audio or video suggestions and links.) Also if anyone has any scary short stories, feel free to quote pertainant passages or URL links.

Is this a dead thread? So you like to rhyme? I just got out of bed and read this thread. Is it dead, he said? I dread this spread. Why are we force-fed? J/K ;D I love the playlists. Keep them coming.

Digging this up for Al! ;D I don't think that Adey was even here last year for this one. Maybe some of the newbies will be interested in contributing some songs here!
Get this, the other night I noticed that my digital cable has a specific DMX station for seasonal music. You'd think that would just be for Christmas, but they were playing 24/7 music to celebrate Halloween and such! It was great to see so many songs for fall! See if anyone else has it, maybe you do Al. ;D
