The root of string theory is in the eastern ideas of The Tao. Infact even this isn't true, it is the mix of east and west that brings forth new ways of viewing the universe. Neo, you really know how to pull my 'string'.....String theory may have roots in eastern thought, just as many philosophies do. I was, however, refering to the time at which I picked up on the evolutionary thought. 'Kind of like saying southern rock music has roots in country music, when in fact they've both been influenced by blues and maybe celtic traditions. The point is, that truth becomes apparent sometimes when the hybrid evolution of thought has reached a certain threshold. Intuition and inspiration are closely linked. You might call this dreaming. The distinction I would make is that dreams mean nothing if you do not ground them in research and devolpment. They also mean nothing if they do not connect with anyone else to the minimum standard of sparking the imagination. It can happen that a thought or theory is way ahead of it's time. However, it must have enough original accessibilty for someone else to take the ball and run with it.

Despite how I'm perceived on this board, I do not deliberately wind people up and certainly do not aim to "pull your string" Altruest. What you have written here is so true. It is perhaps the hardest lesson for me to learn. The message I receive is this: The difference between the madman and the genius is how the ideas are communicated. If you do not speak the language of the recipient how do you expect them to understand your concepts? This is the mistake I constantly make as is plain by the responses I've received here on this board. It has always been my intention to inspire and relate yet all I acheive is alienation. My wild responses are down to the fact that I am after all only human with an imagination that knows no bounds. Your ideas on vibration I find extremely interesting as some experiences I have had certainly bear out your theory. Music is perhaps the greatest communicator we have discovered; rhythm, pitch and in particular timing being a key to reaching deeper parts of ourselves not reached with intellect alone. Having read an article in a current science magazine on information theory, it certainly makes sense that perhaps the universe is after all a collection of ever more complex formulations of information communicated to manifest a material existence that consciousness can appreciate. The core base being the vibrating strings giving rise to all possibilities like DNA as with known life forms.

Neo, I wasn't being sarcastic about pulling my string. What I meant was, you know how to get back in my good graces by broaching this subject matter. You are on the same wavelength as me on this topic. If you'd just listen to me you could learn to channel your creativity. Being able to connect is as important as being able to conceive. A vision unseen is a vision wasted.

If you'd just listen to me you could learn to channel your creativity. Another lesson, to know and not to do is not to know. Genuine listening is an art that generates win/win situations when practiced. There may be something important for me to learn from you. I have certainly learned many things whilst being here, the main one as you have stated, "Being able to connect is as important as being able to conceive. A vision unseen is a vision wasted." Or put another way, a poor salesperson finds it difficult to sell a good product, service, or idea, whereas a good salesperson can connect to move inferior creations. I have a question for you Al, it is quite deep and involved so by all means take as much time as you need to answer: If you could summerise to its highest level of expression at this time, what do you think it means to be human?

I rarely take my time in stating what I think - a truly 'human' characteristic.
Juxtaposed to 'divine' would be human - in other words fallible and ignorant. Humanity ideally seeks the ultimate root of all reality. This truth becomes a mission in everyday life and relationships. In this search one must open their heart and mind to the truth. The wise mind will find that love is the ultimate truth. Love is sublime, it finds beauty in the profane, it exhaults humanity to it's highest form.

Now, what does it mean to truly Love?

Ok, this is really good. Now, what does it mean to truly Love? Of course it is good. Man can only strive to truly love; but the pursuit is the joy. Love can never be understood, because it's expression is so complex. My best effort at describing it would be acceptance and tolerance in attitude, but with expectation and responsibility in spirit to achieve true harmony. Unconditional love must be reinforced with responsible action. Peace is the verifiable indicator of when love has succeeded. Justice is the by-product of truth. Only when both truth and justice co-exist is there harmony.

It seems to me to Love is to understand the paradox of existence: Truly Loving is letting go and holding on at the same time. Kate summed it up beautifully in "The Fog" :: "Is your love big enough to let go of me without hurting me?"

Truly loving is letting go and holding on at the same time. No, what you've described is auto-erotic manipulation.

No, what you've described is auto-erotic manipulation. LOL. A little light relief in this overly cerebral thread..

Having just finished reading Marcus Chown's book, "The Universe Next Door" and integrating it with my own world view, I realise now we'll never reach the summit of the scientific mountain. Just when it seems we have "The theory of everything" a further stretch towers above us tempting us to push on for that view of all creation.
Perhaps what we are missing is the possibility that WE are the creators of it all. Blasphemous if you are a person of conventional religion, enlightening when you connect to the divine spirit in us all.
All creations have a reason to exist, one's dominance over another is only an apparent phenomena. Depending on where you place your view will determine your perception of limitation. We are infinite. Perhaps this is the real fear, not death and oblivion but an acceptence of our eternal being. This was expressed by Achillies in the movie Troy, "The Gods envy our mortality, it gives life meaning and drama" Without an end beginnings are no longer necessary. So the creation of death makes life possible.
