This week's playlist was inspired by comments made in the 'Covers' thread on the general board. The 'theatrical element of Kate Bush's music is what will be hi-lighted here.
Each of the songs have a music video. If you can. please watch AND listen to these selections:
* 'Wow' * 'Sat in Your Lap' * 'Suspended in Gaffa' * 'Army Dreamer's' * 'The Goes a Tenner'
Please post your comments on the many ways Kate Bush communicates on these productions.

Here's the bogus playlist, I was about to post:
* 'The Eyes Have It' From the new CD "Facade" * 'Masquerade' ditto * 'Charade' ditto * 'Get Outta My House, Redux" (aka "A Song for Danny") * 'Oh To be In Love.......AGAIN' From the Tribute Single " To John M."
(Ms.Bush I beg your forgiveness)

First off, I listned to the 5 songs in that order. What struck me was how much more energetic the songs from "The Dreaming" seem than the other two. I've never really thought of "The Dreaming" as being a very energetic/upbeat album at all, so the playlist has actually given me a newfound insight into it! Also, "There Goes A Tenner", which I have never liked *that* much, seemed to follow on very well from "Army Dreamers" and I really enjoyed hearing it, so thank you altruest I don't have the video which you can buy with Kate's music videos on and so I've only seen the vids for "Army Dreamers" and "Suspended In Gaffa" from the 5 listed. "Army Dreamers" is an excellent video, I love the way Kate blinks everytime that sound is made in the song (I don't really know how to explain it!). The "Suspended In Gaffa" video is interesting, but I don't really understand it, it just seems to be Kate dancing in a barn. I'm sure there's something more to it though...there always is with Kate. I have to say, however, that I'm not sure either of these videos really add anything to the songs for me, which is quite surprising really. I often find I relate to songs better that music videos. Maybe I just respond better to music? The only exception is "The Sensual World" as far as I can remember, which is by far my favourite Kate video and, for me, really adds a warmth to the song.

Thanks for the insight Sto'. If you have the opportunity to purchase the "Single Files' on VHS do so.
I was trying to select videos in which Kate was her most visually expressive. Her eyes in all of these clips are remarkably beautiful and evocative. Her mouth says as much closed as it does when she's belting out those keening vocals on "Sat In Your Lap" Her dance and mime training combine with her expressions and vocal to provide great theatre.

Yes I noticed, hehe. What does it mean when a topic is 'sticky' mean? It'll remain at the top of the board even when new posts are...posted! As well as catching more flies, of course.
