Wait a minute - on one hand, you say she's Greek. But you also say you think her work was found on Egyptian mummy wrappings. Error: does not compute.

The answer is true. Check Reuters (source) there is a story in today's news. ('having trouble with the link ) Also, I heard it on NPR a few days ago.

OK, I read the story (I did not hear that one), and you know what? I STILL don't buy it. Someone explain to me how a poem from a writer in ancient Greece can wind up in ancient Egypt? It's not like they had United Airlines back then. Two predictions: 1) You'll be reading in a couple of weeks how it was shown to be a fake or (more likely) 2) It will be shown to be a fake, but you WON'T read about it because that's not as interesting a story. Oh, and Kate probably won't release an album this year, either.

Most of her other work has been established as coming from these same kind of papyrus. Apparently like old newspaper or magazines of today being recycled. Her work was evidently read by other's in this cradle of the civilized world of the time. Crete and Lesbos were in short traveling distance to Egypt. There were visitors from much further away. Sappho would certainly have had an audience outside of Greece. There has been time to debunk the authenticity. The discovery was made a while back. It is now published only because it has been verified. NPR and Reuters are reputable sources. Jeez aren't we negative today. ;D You may be right - it's been 2,600 years since Sappho's last release.

OK, I believe now. I did some research, and this page satisfies my doubts. this page has some (VERY large) photos of the papyrus fragments. My skepticism is founded on the mainstream press getting all excited about "an unbelievable discovery" (Cold Fusion, that religious wacko group that claimed to have cloned a human which nobody, etc.) that they soon find out aren't true. This isn't to say cold fusion or human cloning aren't possible, it's just that the way the press reports these things tends not to help. Yeah, I 'm doubtful of the existance of Santa Claus, God, and the Easter Bunny, too.

I am always impressed when people research. It is amazing to me how there seems to be a diminishing of curiosity in our culture today. I have dictionaries and search engines on my tool bars. If I read something I don't know, then it's just a matter of a few clicks and then I do. Healthy skepticism is a good plan. Consider the source and corroborate, I say. Common sense is also important. Me too. Actually I am a dyslexic agnostic insomniac. i.e., I stay up all night wondering if there really is a dog.

OK, I've just finished re-reading this whole thread, and fun it was too. As is our way sometimes, the thread it set out to be, was not the thread that it finished as.. Anyway, I checked all the guesses and no-one even came close to guessing the title of the new album or to naming a likely track.A glorious failure by all concerned. My Sensual World Award Trophies remain safe ( and now somewhat dusty) in their locked cabinet..

i'm going with what the recent rumors says: the album will be called "how to be invisible" and a title track in the same name (i think the title really fits because she certainley was almost invisible for a long time). another track will be called "moving through the mind" hey, i guessed how to be invisible, i deserve half trophy
