Hi everyone,
I'm Mark from South Carolina, USA. I found this site while looking for recent news. "Kate Bush 2005" on MSN, I think.
I half-listened to Kate Bush a few years ago when I was a huge Tori Amos fan. I thought I should check out this woman who was always mentioned in Tori biographies. I admit my first impressions went something like, "This is too 80s, her voice is too high for me, what the hell is she saying?' But I bought a copy of the Whole Story because I loved Cloudbusting and Running Up that Hill.
Years later (late last month), for some reason that I can't remember, I started listening to that CD over and over. And then I wanted more so I ordered The Red Shoes, Hounds of Love, and The Sensual World all in one night and I've been listening to them all over and over. I love it. I don't know why I like her music so much now as opposed to a few years ago.
For example, I'm sure I would have made some smart-ass comment about how awful Moments of Pleasure was 4 years ago, but I've listened to it twice since I've been trying to sign up for this board. The "80s" experimental music seems more modern than I remember and the quiet, heartfelt songs seem more poignant.
I'm excited about rumors of a new album. This would be the first that comes out since I've started calling myself a fan.
I'm also excited about signing up for this board.
PS- I've always thought you can hear more of a Laura Nyro influence in Tori's music.

Hi everyone, I'm Mark from South Carolina, USA. Welcome Mark. 'Nice to see another southerner here. - further proving we've emerged from the stereotypes. Yet intriguing nonetheless. Much of her music has a time-released quality to me. My favorites rotate and improve with age. You're ready for ''The Dreaming'' now. This reminds me of similar sentiments expressed by actress Chloe Sevigny, whom is now a full-fledge fan. We're are looking forward to hearing her voice once again here. It is also nice to have you aboard. Please feel welcomed. 'Looking forward to your input. 'Never noticed. But, yes....may be.

I really like this forum (I hate the interface because it's so non-standard, but I'm learning) because, well, you're my kind of folk. While the Homeground forum tends to get news first, 90% of the people there seem to be gay British men. I have absoultely nothing against gay men (or British men, for that matter), but that means 90% of the topics tend to be about things I don't know/don't care about (British TV shows, pop singers who are popular there but haven't crossed the Atlantic yet, etc.) - plus they have an unhealthy obsession with Madonna. Yuck. Also, I don't think most of the people there like my silly, sometimes crass American sense of humor. I've noticed you folk encourage silliness - I wouldn't stick around if you didn't!

Silly and crass - so that's why you're staying? ;D Seriously, we aren't defined by category here. We are intergenerational and multi-cultural. It seems we just attract like minds.

I really like this forum (I hate the interface because it's so non-standard, but I'm learning) Once you're used to it it is so much better (IMO) tho'. You have all the topics structured logically (thanks Lori ) Plus it encourages participation through suggestion. However the 'search' feature does suck. Not because it does not work, but in that there is no instruction on how to go back as far as you would like. i.e. (having to manually type in the desired past post count vs a drop-down box with increments)

hi all, Why did i decided to join? I've always been a fan of KB. I remember that when i was a child i constantly asked my parents to play babushka.. back then, the broken glass sounds seemed fascinating to me (it's use in music). This track eventually made me study music and sound and choose a profession. or was it haemm..Billie jean??? I've always thought Kate 's voices is universal. When i listen to her i hear the voice of The mother. And it stands for comfort . So i signed up to meet other people which lives are influenced by Kate.

I have been a Kate Bush fan since the eighties when I borrowed Lionheart from my elder sister. I was 12-14 years then, and though my music taste following years spread in all directions, I have always returned to Kate Bush. Not just because of her musically and lyrically talents, but when it seems like every female artist blindly show how sexy they are (visually, vocally and musically) in a way to sell records, it is a welcoming relief to bring Kate Bush back in to my world again, an artist who express her sensuality instead of sexuality and holds her integrity intact . And that is how I found this site, I was Googling for "sensual music", looking for similar artists. Any suggestions, or is this question not appropriate in a Kate Bush fan site?

Any suggestions, or is this question not appropriate in a Kate Bush fan site? ehh... you reference female artists in particular but my first nomination for 'sensual music' is Leonard Cohen; the second, and probably final one, is Mirah. Oh wait, here's another one: Madeleine Peyroux. yup I've thought about it now for a few minutes - that's all for the moment. EDIT: btw, and not that I am any authority, but I don't see anything inappropriate with the question. The only thing I would question is the place where it appears - I think it would be a nice separate topic post.

Ok, so I know I've only been here for a little while, but I thought I'd say that this really is a wonderful message board! Everyone is very friendly, and it seems there are a lot of deep-thinking and creative people here. I'd like to post here pretty regularly, I think, and I hope maybe some others will join me, as it seems to be a bit slow here at the moment. Not that slow is a bad thing- after all, Aerial took twelve years! So just a bit of appreciation for everyone here...

Hi everybody? Is there room in the bed? (Obscure Ulysses reference). I was listening to Director's Cut and wanted to air my pet theories about a few things to people who (I hope!) won't be too bored to hear.
