I'll report back back on the songs you linked. I've heard Segovia certainly though probably not the song in question... and I even have an Andres Segovia guitar tab/instruction book around here somewhere. Victor Jara was quite the artist... something like the Woody Guthrie of Chile. The Clash referenced him in a song called Washington Bullets and the No More Songs video above is also partially about him. Quite a story... There is a lot of good Russian classical music, though beyond that I'm clueless about the music of that part of the world. I've placed 'Russia' on The List. Oh and I love both Mercedes Sosa and Violeta Parra! I've loved Segovia since I was a little kid, mainly because his guitar work is so expressive. Caballé and Domingo are the gods of opera. Carreras is not a natural opera singer, but he sings some beautiful songs in Spanish (I have some, but again, not on youtube). Russian classical music is very good. My family was very into folk music, though, and my great-uncle was especially. My gradnfather preceded him into the grave, but he died when I was about 3 years old. His music seems to be obsolete now - and that's what I'm trying to find.

I like the Segovia piece quite a bit. I listen to it and think "well this is beautiful" and then when it's over I can't remember one bit how it went. That's something I consider to be a positive! I didnt care for Montserrat Caballé but she obviously is a fine singer.

I didnt care for Montserrat Caballé but she obviously is a fine singer. That is the true sign of a good instrumental piece of music. I'm glad you like it; I would happily listen to Segovia every day. Caballé is an acquired taste, and if you don't like opera you probably won't like her. I was lucky enough to be raised on her music.
