Has there been mention of this young artist in the vicinity of the Probards, as I've heard her being spoken of in the same breath as our Kate. Based on a small clip I saw on tv recently she's obviously a good musician who puts equal consideration in her songwriting. What do people think?

I only know of her from the 'Garden State' soundtrack. But as for the Kate comparison - that has become routine and fashionable, it seems, for critics. When a new artist is out of the mainstream they often get compared to Kate. There are scores of these references. And more than half aren't valid. However Imogen Heap is appearing live at a club here in Nashville (the 20th at 'The Cannery") this weekend, I'll check her out and report back.

Yeah, 100% is indeed more than half. btw, which "out of the mainstream" artists are validly (heh I'm sure that's incorrect) (with validity?) compared to Kate? Just curious... So what did you think of Imogen? I like her at times, though less than half of times, probably. Her song "Rake It In" is very nice.

Wow, a Imogen Heap appearance is a cause for a crowd in Nashville? Is Nashville not as ridiculous a town musically as I suspect it is? (I suspect it's pretty ridiculous.)

There is a very diverse mix here in 'Music City' You'd be surprised. Lots of people in Nashville cringe when country music is played.... There is an extensive club circuit here. We are now as cosmopolitan as Cincinatti. ;D

Haha well then viva Nashville! Oh yes, and cincy too.
I can actually think of one Nashville band that I like - Lambchop.
Oh and I meant to mention this in the repeated songs topic - If you haven't heard a band called Morphine you should consider checking them out sometime when you're in a music-browsing mood. They were formed in the early 90s and were a jazz-influenced band that featured a good amount of rock as well. ehm... this band also has the distinction of being one of the few (that I am aware of anyway) whose singer died while onstage during a concert.

I am aware of Morphine but have yet to buy anything from them. My daughter and her boyfriend have told me repeatedly that, based on what I listen to around them, I would like them. 'Been meaning to...thanks for the reminder.

I also really like it. It's nice too to see videos that aren't targeted entirely for those with ADD. The individual clips flowed with the music. heh I had forgotten this song entirely... I think i'll take another listen to the album. I also like her current video. I can't recall the name of it, but it's the one where she's a wind-up doll - another nicely directed video.

^ Yeah, the Adult Attention Deficit Disorder reference is well taken. Flitting about with flashes of images is so worn out and bothersome. This is one of the only good uses of the vocoder that I've heard. I love Joe Zawinul, but I wish he'd never picked up a vocoder. 'Wish now I'd gone to see Ms Heap.
