It seems that every tenth thread on this board is an evolution. Starting this week the playlists will now be done monthly. Please listen to and enjoy the theme. I would ask that you make your comments and suggestions over the next three or four weeks. (I've decided not to have any voting as we already do that on Sto's board )
Kate Bush has, it seems, an affinity for French culture. Movement through dance and mime, have been strong aspects of French expression. Although mime has it's origins in ancient times, from the oriental Kabuki to European theatre; it's most famous ambassador (Marcel Marceau) was French. His 'Mime of illusion' differs from Kate's 'Expressive mime' as taught by Lindsey Kemp; there are, however, unmistakeble French cues in Kate's work.
Whether it's the 'Parisienne' sound of "Coffee Homeground" or the French language covers of a couple of her songs; Kate Bush has a discernable Frech flair. Please listen to songs with a "French Connection":
1) 'Coffee Homeground'
2) 'Ne T Enfuis Pas ('Don't Fly Away')
3) 'Hammer Horror' (Video presentation)
4) 'Un Baiser D Enfant' ('The Infant Kiss')
5) 'L'Amour looks Something Like You' (live version)
6) 'Love By Grace'
7) 'Du Jazz Dans Le Ravin'
8) 'Games Without Frontiers'
9) 'Dancing Ghost'
10) 'The Writing On My Father's Hand'

(There are are linls to amazon for all their albums) also check Lisa Gerrard and Hans Zimmer's soundtracks (they are awesome) e.g. "The Gladiator" This soundtrack helped make the movie.
*Lara Fabian is a French artist often compared to Celine Dion. She has a beautiful voice. (thank you "sto for the inspiration)
*Corpus Delecti are a famous French Goth Band. I include them for edification.
*Serge Gainesbourge has ties to some French actresses whom also sing (upcoming list)
*Kate sings BV in French on the Peter Gabriel selection.
*It may be a stretch to include Lisa Gerrard (French heritage) but I love her voice and the work of Dead Can Dance. You guys should check them out.
Please post your comments and suggestions.
