NICKNAMES: Noble & Brite & Novercia
At first, Kate was opposed to having any sort of management, feeling strongly that fewer mistakes are made if you deal with situations yourself, directly. But she quickly found out that this sort of idealism does not work, and now has Peter Lyster-Todd handling her business affairs.
"He has worked more on the theatrical side of entertainment than music. I like that. I think most managers are crooks--greedy and nonmusical; and that mixing with other music managers is contageous. I think Peter is amazing..."
<Ironically, Kate and the Bush family almost immediately set about the difficult business of severing connections with Lyster-Todd, who, according to at least one unofficial source, was suspected of dipping into the till. Lyster-Todd was replaced by Hilary Walker, who is still connected to Kate's current holding company, Novercia, Ltd.--IED>

Novercia: One of several companies formed to handle the business affairs of Kate Bush; each of her immediate family members is on the Board of Directors.
"Novercia" has been translated as Latin for "the new woman" or "she who is new." (The word is also an anagram of the name "Veronica," but whether this name means anything to Kate is something only she can say...)

KaTe's oldest company is "NOVERCIA LIMITED" (now "Noble and Brite Limited"). The company was originally incorporated on 28th April 1976, around the time of KaTe's EMI (publishing) deal.
1976: The EMI deal begins to take shape. A publishing contract is settled first.
July 1976: Kate finally settles a recording deal with EMI. The contract is for four years, with options at the end of the second and third year.

The recording deal is much discussed between Kate, her family, Gilmour and EMI. In July 1976 it is finally perfect.

"Kate Bush Music Limited" was incorporated 3rd January 1978, before 'Wuthering Heights' was released, but after its original planned release date.
November 4, 1977: The original release date for Wuthering Heights. At a late stage Kate asks EMI to change the artwork on the picture-sleeve from the "pink top" photo to Del Palmer's photo-concept of Kite. She gets her way, and all the campaign materials are altered. By the time the new campaign material is ready, Christmas is approaching and EMI are unwilling to launch their new artist into the pre-Christmas maelstrom. The release date is put back until the new year. Many demos [i.e., promos] of the single have already been sent out to radio producers. EMI tries to retrieve them to prevent premature airplay. Eddie Puma, producer of London commercial station Capital Radio's Late Show, and Tony Myatt, the presenter, admire the record so much that they decide to play it, and continue to play it throughout November and December. Other radio stations follow. Wuthering Heights is an airplay hit two months before release.
January 1978: At a three-day sales conference for EMI International delegates, Kate sings live [song or songs unidentified], and Bob Mercer predicts that she will be one of the major talents of the future.
January 20, 1978: Wuthering Heights is finally released. Kate does her first live radio interview on Tony Myatt's Late Show.

"NOVERCIA HOLDINGS LIMITED" (now "Noble & Brite Holdings Limited") was incorporated nine months later, on 13th September 1978, as Kate was finishing off her 'Lionheart' album.
bizzy.info/uk/search.asp
August, 1978: It takes ten weeks at Superbear to record twelve tracks, of which ten are used for the new album. [These two unreleased tracks have never been identified.] Kate has definite aims for this album. She sees her first album as having affected the senses. Lionheart is to be aimed at the guts. In this she comes into some conflict with Andrew Powell, who is again acting as producer. She is allowed more of her own way in the studio, and after applying some pressure, she is able to bring the KT Bush Band in to play on some of the tracks. Kate is credited as assistant producer, but Lionheart is the end of the road for the Bush-Powell partnership.

Interestingly, Noble and Brite is a play on the name 'Albert' (or "Bertie"); and Novercia is an anagram of the name 'Veronica'.
So, are the names Albert and Veronica of special significance to KaTe? And, if so, why? . . .
ALBERT
Origin: Old German
Meaning: Noble, bright, famous
Variations: Albertine, Albertina, Alberta
Alternatives: Ailbert
Nicknames: Albie, Al, Bertie, Bert
Brought into England by the Normans. Popular among royalty. Interest during the 19th century grew in honor of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's consort of Great Britain and Ireland. Also known for Albert Einstein, the German-American physicist who developed the theory of relativity. He won the 1921 Nobel Prize for Physics.
Albert has a Name day of 15th November. There is also an alternative celebration date of 25th December for this Name day and represents different religious interpretations or different festival days for Saints.
There are numerous Saints with the name Albert however the most memorable is Albert the Great., He was a thirteenth century Scientist who wrote many books on the sciences and nature. Another St Albert, Albert Chmielkowski, was a Polish painter who lost a leg in an uprising against the Russians in 1863, when he was only 18 years old. He later joined the Third Order of the Franciscans (for lay men and women), and made his studio into a shelter for the poor and homeless, before becoming a tramp himself; he died in a hospice in Cracow on Christmas Day, 1916. He might be the inspiration for the 'Crisis at Christmas movement', now simply called 'Crisis' - an organization which helps the destitute all year round.
VERONICA
Origin: Latin
Meaning: True image
Variations: Von, Verlondan, Vermont
Alternatives: Varonika, Veronika, Vyronicah, Vironica, Verhonica, Vyronica, Varonica, Vironika, Varonicca, Veronnica
Nicknames: Roni, Veronic
Latin form of Berenice, influenced by the ecclesiastical Latin phrase, "vera icon." Also the name of a legendary saint who wiped Jesus's face with a towel and then found his image imprinted in the fabric. The name was influenced by film actress and pin-up model Veronica Lake during the 1940s and by English child actress Veronica Cartwright starting in the late 1950s. Also associated with Veronica "Ronnie" Lodge, the fictional character from the Archie Comic book series created in 1942, who has kept an ageless influence on the name as a high school teenager for more than 65 years.
Veronica has a Name day of 12th July. 'Veronica' is an anagram of 'vera icon' or 'true image' and the name has become associated with the story of the woman of Jerusalem who stopped Jesus on his way to crucifixion and wiped his bloody, perspiring face with her handkerchief. As a miraculous reward for her compassion, Jesus' features were imprinted on the cloth, which is kept as a precious relic in St Peter's, Rome. Some people believe that Veronica was also the woman with the 'issue of blood' whom Jesus healed, others that the liturgical veil called the 'vernicle' eventually became personified as a woman called Veronica. However it may be, Veronica herself has become a true image of compassion in her own right, and a beautiful picture in the otherwise brutal story of the Crucifixion. St Veronica is a patron saint of laundry workers.
